Protestors swarm Kentucky Capitol during Gov. Beshear’s COVID-19 briefing

Governor Andy Beshear announced the state of Kentucky saw 88 new confirmed cases and seven more deaths tragically related to COVID-19 on Wednesday. The official statewide COVID-19 totals are now sitting at 2,291 cases and 122 deaths. However, if you were watching the live stream of the press conference, you may have found it hard to focus on what the Governor had to say.

That’s because of the hundreds of protestors who gathered at the Kentucky Capitol, despite the Coronavirus pandemic and the strict social distancing recommendations. Many of the protestors were expressing their dissatisfaction with Gov. Beshear, his decisions regarding COVID-19, the current state of Kentucky’s economy and the closings of churches, according to multiple journalists reporting from the Capitol.

WKYT reporter Nick Oliver captured these videos of the crowd, saying there are hundreds of people gathered at the Capitol.

Daniel Desrochers, a political reporter for the Herald Leader, posted a similar video showing the large gathering.

Beshear acknowledged the protestors, saying “everybody should be able to express their opinion,” but he also held his ground regarding the state’s inability to resume normal activities right now, adding his job isn’t to make the “popular decision, but the right decision.”

The governor also re-emphasized the incredibly-contagious nature of this particular virus, and he reminded those tuning in that COVID-19 is in every county in Kentucky, “whether we’ve had a report or not.”

While some of the protestors in attendance wore masks and stood six feet from the other protestors, many did not. Some of the protestors shouted into megaphones or blasted horns, which is how many of their chants made it through the broadcast and onto the virtual video feed of the news conference. Other protestors brought homemade signs, some of which read  “My God-given rights don’t end where your fear begins,” “Facts over fear,” “Reopen Kentucky,” “chiropractors are essential” and “King Beshear, let my people go!”

Here’s how things sounded during the briefing:

We can’t be doing that.

You moron, the reason why KY hasn’t been hit as hard as other states is because of all these social distancing and lockdown implemented by Beshear. You rednecks are so damn dumb it’s unbelievable. Wanna see those hospital beds get filled up real quick? End the lock down and social distancing and it’ll happen before you know it. It amazes me how idiotic people like you are… Your stupidity is a danger to humanity

We’re in week 5 of lockdown. Virus has incubation of 2 weeks. Why numbers going up still? What are the sources of new infections? Little Andy never talks about sources of infection. How did Treyton Oaks Tower in Louisville get infected? Old folks are on lockdown. Employees bring it in. Why isn’t Little Andy preaching about that?

People should have the liberty to live their life with liberty, in fact, it’s promised by the constitution. It amazes me how stupid tyrants like you are… The rise of tyranny, in the past, has led to so many deaths due to genocide. Why must you promote something that awful and evil. 4everUKBlue. If you had half of a brain you would know why hospitals are Urgent Treatment centers were empty. ALL elective surgeries have been canceled well at hospitals. Patients diagnosed with coronavirus aren’t just hanging out in the normal population you FU**tard. You guys that believe this is being staged are a JOKE and an insult to people actually working the front lines and have seen it upfront and personal. I believe Beshear has stepped over his boundaries though somewhat… this is a real credible video by the way. I wonder if he could give me some tips on what stock to buy… you probably think the world is flat, we never landed on the moon, and chem trails are a real thing too. I’d love to know where you live and kick the stupid out of your teeth.

I work the front lines, and our ER volumes are so low they’re furloughing nurses and techs. The ERs are bare. Inpatient hospitals in Louisville are operating at 50% capacity. Keep drinking the cool aid. We’ve been in the middle of this “terrible virus” for 8 weeks, and 5 weeks of lockdowns and we’ve seen 122 deaths, with 92% of that being people over 70. NYC is not like any other place in our country. Michigan has 3rd most cases but 85% of that is in 3 counties in Detroit proper. You’ve been over sold. The governor loves people like you

Facts over fear?? 4ever I love you buddy, but the reason the numbers are down is because we’ve done a good job of social distancing. I hope that people don’t keep this up until get what they think they want. People need to think about their loved ones.

    • kyle heavy

Calling him a moron is laughable after stating your reasoning as to why Kentucky is not seeing many cases. The reason WHY is because Kentucky is rural AF and more cows live there than people. It’s a fact. 4.5 million people total. That’s why New York is getting hit the hardest. It’s pretty simple – population density. I was born and raised in Kentucky and lived there for 30 years. So don’t give me crap and don’t compare yourselves to Tennessee and those cases and give all praise to Beshear because they have more cases. Nashville alone is almost half the size of a Kentucky’s population. Beshear is just crippling your economy and it’s laughable to be as restricted as you are for the amount of cases and deaths.

    • bbn606
      9:35 pm April 15, 2020 Permalink

Hey gobble gobble, wake up and smell the coffee. The reason Kentucky’s cases are low is because of the low testing this state has done. Sturgill Simpson is a prime example, refused a test in Kentucky, tested in Alabama and tested positive. Dandy Andy frowned on us traveling to Tennessee yet they only have 8 more deaths than Ky with 2.5 million more people in the state. Key is 40th in the nation in testing Per million residents which is exactly why our cases are but in reality we are probably in worse shape than Tn.

If he did something in the month of February besides golf like ramp up production on supplies then maybe this would be over now. Funny how other countries are through this but US is still struggling. King Trump in February: Uh, we’ve got like 15 cases. We’re gonna be down to zero in no time. Two months later: uh, this is serious like I told you from the beginning. We’ve now got 600,000 cases and 27,000 deaths. All hail the King! God I can’t wait till November to vote his a$$ out of office. I feel something is wrong with this virus. Either it was created by man and released on purpose and Bill Gates, a man who talks incessantly of overpopulation and vaccinations is front and center on this. He will certainly profit unbelievably when a vaccine miraculously appears in record time and consists of God knows what. In his Ted Talk he essentially said in part, solid vaccine programs would help with the overpopulation of the globe..Ah what? There is no way we can know all the plans of the elite, but we can look at what we have learned about our recent past. 9/11 was an absolute lie. Iraqis were not killing babies in hospitals, the Gulf of Tonkin was a false flag operation (It did not occur), ALL media is owned by 6 corporations. They are led by interlocking boards or directors and control every single bit of information or entertainment we see. Afghanistan produced over 90% of the world’s poppy for heroin until the Taliban. The Taliban put an end to it and told their farmers to grow vegetables instead. This was unacceptable to the elite who profit wildly from illegal drug production and fund most of the black projects with the proceeds through the CIA and so one of the many benefits of 9/11 was the excuse to go into Afghanistan and force the production of the poppy plant again. The U.S. controlled those fields as well as all airfields. Afghanistan was once again producing over 90% of the world’s poppy after the U.S. controlled the country. Both the Left and Right are run by the same people who consist of very hold families from all over the globe. With green screen technology we know we cannot trust anything we see on ANY Network. My point is oods are something is going on here and we are not being told the truth.

For all you sheeple who lack the capacity to think critically you should watch this. We’ve been lied to on a grand scale for centuries. If you mate lied, cheated or stole just once would you ever trust them again? NO, yet the politicians and the powers that should not be lie you us on a daily basis and you eat it up, believe everything you see on tv. I realize it’s inconvenient to look at the truth but try opening your eyes and using your adult mind to think critically instead of being told what to believe. I do not take any of the insults personal, I forgive all your ignorance. Watch this this unless you’re afraid you might see something you don’t want to believe. “Living is easy with eyes closed.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MY8Nfzcn1qQ&feature=emb_logo

It’s a shame we have people like you, bigblue, that ignores all of the serious threats of tyranny, running the economy into the ground, violating personal liberties and you just continue to play the childish game that democrats and republicans play against one another. Always pushing the other side to play their turn right back at you but. But you’ll never agree because one color is blue and the other is red. You Democrats and Republicans are so funny yet annoying to watch bickering. Especially when it means focusing less on the threatening situations such as tyranny, a dead economy, and liberties being violated.

The idiots who think this is fake or that we are being over protective of our loved ones should be ignored. Do we pay attention to idiots who still say the world is flat? Just ignore them. Virus will probably get they anyway.

You can’t educate anyone who doesn’t want to be educated. Especially when it is much easier for them to comfortably bathe in the lies being spewed from talking heads on Fox News. …..but her emails! You can’t fix ignorant hayseeds.

Ignorant: It’s not that bad here, we should be allowed to get back out do want we want.
Intelligent: If we throw out everything we’ve been doing, it will get very bad here.
Ignorant: People are lying to us! X amount of people were supposed to die! Plus those models included social distancing!
Intelligent: It wasn’t as bad as predicted because social distancing worked much better than we hoped for.
Ignorant: It’s just like the flu, the flu kills x amount of people every year but we dont shut down for that!
Intelligent: Six weeks ago we had our first death from coronavirus, we are now up to 35,000 people dead and that’s with strict stay at home orders. There is no cure, no vaccine, no nothing! You think every country in the world is wrong and you’re right? Seriously?
Ignorant: Yes ok, but tyranny! Tyranny I scream! What about the economy though?
Intelligent: Opening everything up, only to shut it down again will have a deadly effect on us as humans and our economy. They are simply trying to save lives, it’s not a conspiracy. Why is everything a conspiracy with the weak minded?
Ignorant: I’m weak minded? Well why did Fauci get Hillary pregnant and their secret baby was patient 0 with coronavirus?
Intelligent: Dear sweet baby Jesus, what is wrong with people?
