Each week throughout the baseball season I will select the Reds Game of the Week to preview and encourage fans to watch. I know that some of the #KSReds fans are already jumping ship after a disappointing 1-4 start, but I urge you to tune in tonight for a battle between two of Major League Baseball’s best pitchers.

The casual fan probably prefers Home Runs and a high scoring affair, but I would argue that there is nothing more fun to watch than a good old fashioned pitcher’s duel. At 6:40 p.m. Eastern Time this evening at Great American Ball Park we will witness just that.

Kyle Hendricks will take the mound for the visiting Chicago Cubs after slinging a complete game shut out in his Opening Day start against their southside rival, the Chicago White Sox. Hendricks, struck out nine batters while walking none and only giving up three hits in his season debut.

For the Reds, the starting rotation turns back over to Sonny Gray who will take the ball for the second time this season. Like Hendricks, Gray was dominate in his Opening Day performance. Against the Detroit Tigers, Gray stuck out nine and allowed just three hits in his six innings of work to earn the victory on the mound.

Chicago Cubs Lineup

Kris Bryant returns to the leadoff spot in the lineup for the Cubs after receiving a day off yesterday. Javier Baez remains in the 3-hole after going 3-5 last night with two Home Runs and three RBI. The Cubs will also have Wilson Contreras back behind the plate after taking last night’s game off as well. Cubs’ Manager Davis Ross with have five left-handed (or switch-hitting) bats in the lineup to go against Sonny Gray tonight.

Cincinnati Reds Lineup

The most notable aspect of the Reds lineup is the return of Mike Moustakas and Nick Senzel. Both players have been out due to sickness and had to win an appeal in order to be able to play this evening. Neither player ever tested positive for Coronavirus. Tucker Barnhart also will make his 2020 season debut after being on the paternity list to be home with his wife for the birth of their second son.

Tonight would be an excellent night to swing by KSBar and take advantage of their Reds Gameday specials. There will be a great baseball game on television and awesome food and drinks being served. If you aren’t wanting to dine-in, please consider taking part in the take-out specials that continue to run. This evening you can get two steak sandwiches with house cut chips and two drinks for just $18. Also, today is National Chicken Wing Day so can get 25 wings for just $20 (dine-in or carryout) all evening long!

Go Reds! We are due for a victory!
