Ohio State Offers Wandale Robinson

Well, this changes things.

Wandale Robinson, arguably Kentucky’s top remaining recruit from the Commonwealth, officially received a scholarship offer from Ohio State, he announced this morning on Twitter.

Considered the No. 9 all-purpose back in the nation, the Frankfort native has been recruited by Ohio State for quite some time.  Two weeks ago Robinson told KSR, “Ohio State’s been on me really hard, but still has not offered me.  It’s kind of weird.”

Robinson’s recruitment appeared to be a two-horse race between Kentucky and Duke, but now that Ohio State has firmly entered the picture it will be exponentially more difficult for Vince Marrow to keep one of the Commonwealth’s best from leaving the state of Kentucky.  Marrow has taken top recruits from the state of Ohio for years.  Now Ohio State is out for revenge.

F off Urban Meyer. Still got health problems from Tebow leaving?

I’m not getting too worked up either way over this, because I know things change in FB recruiting. Hopefully, Vince Marrow is all over this. If he can take recruits right out of their back yard, surely we have a decent shot at one in Frankfort.

Really dont think Football players should even be allowed to commit to a school until their senior year. Whats the point? I know it’s extreme and won’t happen but I would prefer that system.

How is football different than basketball in that regard? I know there is an unwritten rule that you don’t actively recruit committed b-ball players, but even that happens. There will always be verbal commitments to schools, whether it’s announced publicly or not.

Most top basketball recruits dont commit so early on like in football. In Football players like to commit early on which is pointless if you are still taking offers/visits from other schools. It’s unfair to the coaches that you commit to because they’re counting you as part of the class and then then when you decommit they lose out on other kids at the same position. I don’t blame the kids because their kids and I know coaches still recruit players at the same position but it seems like 75% of commitments dont stick even for big schools

If you think Marrow pulls top talent out of Ohio you need to find a new job. OSU doesn’t worry about who UK gets out of Ohio.

He does pull top talent out of Ohio…but Ohio State pulls talent from everywhere so it doesn’t really bother them.

    • Burrrr, we get it. OSU football is light years ahead of UK. Duh! You don’t have to tell us that, and Nick is not pretending that we’re going into Ohio and kicking OSU’s rear ends and taking names. He just stated the simple fact that we are getting some great talent from that state whereas we seldom did before. CJ Conrad & Lynn Bowden anyone? Hello? I know OSU may not have needed them because they’re so deep, but these guys are from Ohio, they’re talented enough to play anywhere, and we got them. End of story.

well clearly they are concerned about this player so you’re already wrong.

Yeah, sure. OSU didn’t desperately try to get CJ Conrad or anything.

The best thing that has happened to UK football recruiting is Urban taking over at OSU. He expands his net much more nationally than his predecessors. Guys like Mike Edwards, CJ Conrad, Lynn Bowden and Chris Oats would have probably been at OSU 6 or 7 years ago. I saw a KSTV interview with Robinson last night and you can tell he wants to be the dude in his home state. I love the fact that OSU offered, it lets me know that we are fishing in the right waters.

CJ Conrad never got an offer from OSU. He went to their Friday Night Lights event to try to obtain an offer, but left the event without an offer.

I think there might be another factor in this story. Robinson’s long time gf is headed to UK next year. Could make a real difference.
