Ohio State’s rushing attack was on full display against Alabama in last night’s Sugar Bowl. Unfortunately for Kentucky, Damien Harris was watching.
Ezekiel Elliott, the Buckeyes’ sophomore running back, ran for 230 yards in the College Football Playoff semifinal between two of Harris’ three finalists. Elliott earned MVP honors for tallying the most yards against the Tide by any back since 2003. State’s offensive line made it look easy for Elliott, too; it was a perfect recruiting pitch for UK’s top target.
If there’s any positive spin to put on this, it’s that Elliott is only a sophomore and will have two more seasons (okay, probably one) in Columbus. It also helps that Ohio State is believed to be third in the running for Harris, behind Kentucky and Alabama. Harris seemed to be rooting for Bama over the Buckeyes via Twitter.
In the end it will likely come down to the Cats and the Crimson Tide, but Ohio State did its best to make a final impression. Watching that game last night, we couldn’t help but think, “KENTUCKY HAS TO RECRUIT AGAINST THIS???”
Harris announces one week from today.
