Ohio State made a strong case for Damien Harris last night

Ohio State’s rushing attack was on full display against Alabama in last night’s Sugar Bowl. Unfortunately for Kentucky, Damien Harris was watching.

Ezekiel Elliott, the Buckeyes’ sophomore running back, ran for 230 yards in the College Football Playoff semifinal between two of Harris’ three finalists. Elliott earned MVP honors for tallying the most yards against the Tide by any back since 2003. State’s offensive line made it look easy for Elliott, too; it was a perfect recruiting pitch for UK’s top target.

If there’s any positive spin to put on this, it’s that Elliott is only a sophomore and will have two more seasons (okay, probably one) in Columbus. It also helps that Ohio State is believed to be third in the running for Harris, behind Kentucky and Alabama. Harris seemed to be rooting for Bama over the Buckeyes via Twitter.

In the end it will likely come down to the Cats and the Crimson Tide, but Ohio State did its best to make a final impression. Watching that game last night, we couldn’t help but think, “KENTUCKY HAS TO RECRUIT AGAINST THIS???

Harris announces one week from today.

Just do not let your hearts be broken when and if he chooses to go elsewhere fans. Bama and O St. have big offensive lines, talented offensive lines, and much better offensive lines than UK and that is what he is likely considering in his pick. Cats are likely 2 yrs. away from being a force in the SEC and only if Stoops can continue to recruit like he is.

Hope he comes to UK. But won’t shock me if he doesn’t. He could really be the big star at UK.
