No. 2 Kentucky Volleyball dismantles Mississippi State with 3-0 sweep

@KentuckyVB on Twitter

The second-ranked Kentucky Volleyball team is one win away from sweeping its fall slate. After an easy victory over Mississippi State (2-5), UK moves to 7-0 on the year and is the only undefeated SEC squad.

In the first of two weekend games vs. MSU, Kentucky swept the Bulldogs in straight sets, 3-0; 25-15 in the first, 25-12 in the second and 25-16 in the final set.

The Bulldogs were missing two of their rotation pieces at the front line, and the announcers noted they had to shift some players out of position to fill in for the injured pieces, but I doubt the setback would have altered the final outcome all that much.

Filling in for Kentucky’s injured star Avery Skinner, her younger sister Madi was once again impressive in lieu of the senior. The talented freshman recorded a match-high 12 kills with a .647 hitting%.

The other standout performer at the net was Azhani Tealer, who was a defensive monster at the point of attack, tallying EIGHT blocks — two higher than her previous career-best.

And in the back, senior libero Gabby Curry came away with 13 digs against the under-manned Bulldog attackers.

It was another all-around, dominant performance by UK Volleyball, and they’ll be back in action Saturday at 1 p.m.
