The Southeastern Conference is loaded with elite softball talent and Kentucky is right up there among the best.
According to a press release sent out earlier on Thursday by the SEC, the No. 13 Wildcats Softball Team has been ranked fifth in the annual preseason coaches poll, pulling in 97 votes. Kentucky is one of NINE schools in the conference ranked among the nation’s top 25 while Tennessee is also receiving votes. The ‘Cats finished the 2020 season with a 20-4 record and a No. 12 national ranking.

Kentucky will begin its 2021 season on Feb. 12 with a three-game home stint against the Samford Bulldogs. UK will compete in 32 non-conference games and 24 SEC games in a season that will run through June 9. The 2021 SEC Softball Tournament is scheduled for May 12-15 at Rhoads Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
No. 8 Alabama was projected to win the SEC while No. 5 LSU slid in right behind them. Coming in at third is No. 7 Florida followed by unranked Tennessee at fourth. Below is the complete list of the standings.
