Because this is Kentucky and it’s never too early to start talking about a team that’s almost two years away, let’s talk about DeAndre Ayton.

According to Kyle Tucker of the Courier Journal, the no. 1 recruit in the class of 2017, Ayton has the Cats in his top 3 among Duke and Kansas. The 7-footer from the Bahamas, who currently lives in Arizona was playing in Lexington this weekend in the Bluegrass Showcase.

Why is Ayton considering Kentucky? History.

“Just their history and what they’ve been doing,” Ayton said of his interest in UK, which has been to four Final Fours in five years and had more players drafted since 2010 than any other program. “I’m really impressed by all of it.”

I can understand UK beating UNC for players out of North Carolina, but I can’t imagine beating Sean Miller and Arizona for a player in Arizona.

I thought he played for a Cali team last year. These guys jump around so much now days with the way high schools recruit. It is ridiculous.
