Nick Richards says he and Bamba will block shots all day

richards-interview

Like you and me, Nick Richards wants Mohamed Bamba in Kentucky blue next season. We want him because we want the best for the Cats; Richards wants him so they can form a dominant, defensive-minded duo in the paint.

At the Jordan Brand Classic yesterday Richards told Adam Zagoria, “Nobody not gonna score any layups if we go to Kentucky… Blocking shots all day, every day.”

Richards plays an active role in the recruitment of Bamba even though they could be competing for minutes next season. The “block shots all day” quote further proves he genuinely wants his fellow big man to join him in Lexington so they can form a new set of twin towers.

And how fun does that sound?

For more from Richards and others about Bamba, check out Zagoria’s story here.

An all freshman starting lineup of Bamba, Richards, Vanderbilt, Diallo, and Green sounds interesting. But that lack of experience is kind of scary.

He is talking about 2014, when they lost in the title game to UConn. Yes, they did actually win it in 12 with freshmen playing significant roles.

Talent over experience all day, everyday.

They won’t be playing at the same time hardly ever. Would love to have them both though. Rim protector at all times.

If Bam doesn’t come back I think you are wrong. They will be playing together often. There really isn’t a true PF.

Double negative. He basically said opponents will score layups if they go to UK.

Pretty common in today’s vernacular. Even though not grammatically correct, I think we all know what he means.

You beat me to it, everyone is gonna score layups next year.

PJ Washington would be the power forward. He and Gabriel would hold the 4.

Richards would almost certainly play the 4 if we got bamba as well.. the kid can run the floor very very well

I think you might even see Bamba at the 4 on occasion. Cal professes “positionless” basketball, and that is one of the things that appeals to Bamba, according to his social media.
