National Nut Day’s Thursday Morning Wakeup

Good morning and Happy National Nut Day!

That’s right, today is National Nut Day, a celebration of nuts in all shapes and sizes. Big nuts, small nuts, round nuts, all nuts: today is your day!

So take a second to appreciate nuts while at work or at home or whatever you have planned. Nuts are often forgotten, but don’t let that be the case today. Pay attention to those nuts!

Now let’s change the subject before I take this too far…

The University of Kentucky will receive a huge gift today.

According to our friend and fellow Tulip Bistro & Bar frequenter, Jennifer Palumbo, UK will hold a press conference at 10 am to announce the largest single gift in school history. I have no idea what said gift will be, but I’m guessing it’s nuts.

The latest KSR podcast came out yesterday.

Mrs. Tyler joined the guys to discuss last Thursday’s loss to Auburn and the upcoming challenge on the road in Starkville. I haven’t gotten around to listening to it yet, but my understanding is Freddie has a new nickname and we learned a little about his ancestry.

Give it a listen here.

We will hear from Mark Stoops today.

Stoops will address the media one last time before the team takes off for Mississippi, following today’s practice later this afternoon.

Matt Elam did not talk yesterday.

Elam is one of the major storylines entering Saturday’s game as he is set to make his first career start for the Wildcats, in place of the injured Melvin Lewis. Stoops is confident Elam will step up and perform in his new role, but the sophomore defensive tackle did not step up to answer questions when the defensive players were available after yesterday’s practice. He sat out to get focused.

John Calipari on Skal Labissiere’s eligibility: “We’ll see.”

From his time at SEC Media Day in Charlotte yesterday:

“The thing with this, there are probably 50-60 kids that went through this. There are probably 15 still going through it. Last year, at this time, five of our kids hadn’t been cleared yet. So, we’re all feeling good, he’s feeling good, and we’re going to play that first game and we’ll see.”

Feeling good is good, but we’ll feel a lot better once the word comes in that he is eligible to play.

Anthony Davis balled out last night.

Davis scored 33 points with 16 rebounds and five blocks in the loss to Orlando last night. Watch the highlights from his big night here:

That’s becoming the norm for AD in Nawlins.

The first video in our KSR Asks series will debut today.

Coming up around noonish, depending on the news flow, we will release the first of many KSR Asks videos from our preseason interviews. I came up with several non-basketball questions to ask the Cats and the first will reveal their interests in music.

You’ll definitely want to check that out.

Pulling double duty today.

I’m running the website while talking on the radio this morning, so forgive me if everything blows up. I can’t even walk and chew gum at the same time, let alone co-host a show while writing blog posts and looking for news.

Lee K. Howard will join us on KSR.

Speaking of radio, Ryan and I will have Lee K. Howard of WKYT in studio with us for a review of SEC Media Day. He was in Charlotte yesterday and he is kind enough to sit in with us for a full rundown of what all we missed.

Tune in in about an hour.

Crossing my fingers that it’s a donation to improve the legroom at CWS!

how tall are you, since you cry about this every day. Or are you just trolling? Something tells me you’re 5’6 and live alone.

I’m 6’2″ and long-legged. There are times when I wish I was 5’6″, usually when I’m at a UK football game.

I’m 6’5″ and have no problem at all.

Quit whining, fucc boi. Get a girlfriend for once in your life.

My boyfriend is 6’4 but he’s short-legged and doesn’t have problems. I guess I’m the only person with leg room issues. Maybe that’s why no one else cares.

That last THamp was an imposter. I am as straight as an arrow, no bf for me. You know you speak the truth when people start to try and discredit you! #freeTHampslegs

Buck up for a luxury box or clubhouse seats or quit your complaining.
If I want to watch the game in relative comfort I have no illusion that it will happen at the stadium. Stay at home or go to a bar. Restrooms, food, drink and plenty of legroom at venues outside the stadium. I go to the stadium for tailgating and the gameday experience…not leg room.
Honestly, your incessant whining about the issue truly makes you look like a little b#tch.

I’m afraid we can’t do that, Drew. We, the people of the internet, must do our duty of blowing any mistakes you make today out of proportion and take things to a very personal when you post something we don’t like.

Missed a golden opportunity to use as many nut puns as possible in the News and Views. Was really hoping it was heading in this direction with the first note.
