Names to watch out for at this week’s NBPA Top 100 Camp

The NBPA Top 100 Camp is taking place this week in Charlottesville, VA, where some of the top prospects in all of high school basketball are set to compete from Wednesday night through Saturday evening.

Split up into teams of 11 or 12 named after various NBA franchises, the elite prospects will participate in games throughout the week, setting up for a tournament starting on Saturday morning.

As expected, several of Kentucky’s top prospects for both 2020 and 2021 are in attendance. Outside of John Calipari’s top targets, there are also a few other names of interest that UK fans will likely be familiar with.

I have compiled a list of all of those high school prospects to keep an eye on throughout the week:

Philadelphia 76ers

Team Coaches: Jon Leur, Greg Oden, Derrick Taylor

Jamal Mashburn Jr. (2020)

6-foot-3, 160-pound point guard out of Brewster Academy, native of Miami Beach, FL.

Son of Kentucky legend Jamal Mashburn.

Brandon Boston Jr. (2020)

6-foot-6, 175-pound shooting guard out of Norcross High School, native of Peachtree Corners, GA.

One of Kentucky’s top targets in the class of 2020, serious interest in the Wildcats.

Daishen Nix (2020)

6-foot-5, 205-pound point guard out of Trinity International in Las Vegas, NV.

Considered one of the fastest-rising prospects in the class of 2020, arguably the top point guard overall. Kentucky assistant Joel Justus recently visited.

Chicago Bulls

Team Coaches: Greg Monroe and Andy Muse

Dawson Garcia (2020)

6-foot-10, 220-pound center out of Prior Lake High School, native of Savage, MN.

Joel Justus visited recently.

Boston Celtics

Team Coaches: Aaron Brooks, Lee Nailon, George Ward

Jaemyn Brakefield (2020)

6-foot-8, 210-pound power forward out of Huntington Prep, native of Menasha, WI.

Multiple Kentucky ties, has visited for Big Blue Madness each of the past two seasons.

New York Knicks

Team Coaches: Ricky Davis and Steve Turner

Terrence Clarke (2021)

6-foot-6, 190-pound shooting guard out of Brewster Academy, native of Roslindale MA.

Considered one of the top rising juniors in the nation, Kentucky has already offered.

Los Angeles Lakers

Team Coaches: Jason Maxiell and Bruce Glover

Zion Harmon (2021)

5-foot-11, 175-pound point guard out of Marshall County High School, native of Benton, KY.

Local prospect of interest.

Houston Rockets

Team Coaches: Jerian Grant, Mario West, Harold Barber

J.T. Thor (2021, but likely reclassifying to 2020)

6-foot-9, 190-pound power forward out of Huntington Prep out of Huntington Prep, WV.

Thor visited Kentucky for Big Blue Madness this past year, and made another trip to Lexington in January. No offer yet, but one is expected to come.

Cam’Ron Fletcher (2020)

6-foot-7, 195-pound small forward out of Vashon High School, native of Saint Louis, MO.

Kentucky has been in contact, told KSR at Nike EYBL (Atlanta) that he is hoping for an offer from Calipari.

Cliff Omoruyi (2020)

6-foot-10, 230-pound center out of Roselle Catholic, native of Maplewood, NJ.

Holds Kentucky offer, Wildcats considered an early favorite.

San Antonio Spurs

Team Coaches: Justin Anderson, Desmond Farmer, and Doug Snyder

Kyree Walker (2020)

6-foot-5, 205-pound shooting guard out of Hillcrest Prep, native of Glendale, AZ.

Kentucky was named one of the frontrunners for Walker back in the fall, though momentum seems to be shifting away from the Wildcats.

Golden State Warriors

Team Coaches: Kendrick Perkins, Grant Long, Shonn Brown

Jalen Johnson (2020)

6-foot-8, 215-pound small forward out of Nicolet High School, native of Glendale, WI.

Called Kentucky his “dream school” this spring. UK and Duke seen as top contenders.

Makur Maker (2020)

7-foot-0, 235-pound center out of Orange Lutheran High School, native of Yorba Linda, CA.

Once considered a reclassification candidate, Kentucky visited him out in California recently.

I am here in Charlottesville this week, where I will be providing updates on the recruitments and play of all of the prospects listed above, along with a few other standouts I notice.

Interviews and games start tonight. Stay tuned.
