And now, a bit of bad news. 2015 4-star CB Montrell Custis just flipped his commitment from Kentucky to Alabama. Custis was UK’s first commitment in the 2015 class, and is considered the 26th best cornerback in the country by 247 Sports. The Cats now have five commitments in the 2015 class: Marcus Walker, Levon Livingston, Logan Stenberg, Larry Wells, and Mason Wolf.

The loss is disappointing, but Alabama is Alabama. Best of luck to him.

Why even commit? Schools should be punished somehow by taking other schools commits. Nothing crazy, maybe have the young men ineligible for a few games.

A verbal commitment means nothing. No one should be punished here, he didn’t sign anything binding him to UK. Be happy for the kid for getting a scholarship to the best college football program in the country

      Jomani – +1

I’d love to have him, but I don’t blame him for his decision. It IS Alabama.

Best of luck to the young fella.

Dont sweat It guys. This happens all the time to all different kinds of schools and even better players. UNC just had one of the best TE In the country de-commit the other day. Its just how It Is, and If anything, It Is a sign that Kentucky Is now In It for good players. This Is just what you have to deal with when gong for that level of player.

This can’t be a UK fan. Gotta love trolls that hang around UK message boards just to try to make the fan base look bad. Bama is Bama. They pick and choose recruits they want just like UK does in basketball. If anything it speaks to what Stoops and his coaches have done in Lexington over the last 2 years just to be in the running for a kid with that much talent. It’s a new day. May not be there tomorrow, but we’ll get there eventually. Congrats to this young man. I hope he accomplishes all he dreams and more. Stoops Troops!! Go Big Blue!!

And he could “flip” again after they ink a couple of 5-stars. But if not, it’s pretty GREAT to slug it out with the BAMA’s of the world for recruits instead of with the “South Alabama’s”.

I was thinking the same thing, a la Denzel Ware. If UK puts some wins on the board next year and our recruiting keeps going strong he may want to reconsider. It’s unfortunate but still way too early to worry about one recruit.

didnt we flip a couple players last year.? hatcher comes to mind for one. so we shouldn’t be on any ones case. just play by the rules

Welcome to big boy, SEC recruiting. We will flip someone else and might flip Custis back if we put some wins on the board. Denzel Ware came back. Not a big deal. Long way to go to signing day.

I,m happy for Montrell when a program like Bama! Wants you you go period! The only thing that might happen is he might have to sit for 2 or 3 years before he plays because there will be 4 or 5 of him there at kentucky he would play from day one but I do wish him we’ll and if things don,t work out for him there we will welcome him back with open arms Good Luck Montrell

  16. WTF?
    8:58 pm April 14, 2014 Permalink

You Bama is Bama people are idiots. So Florida is Florida, Georgia is Georgia, LSU is LSU, Texas A&M is Texas A&M, etc.

We can’t get them all, but to act like we should be okay with losing recruits, especially committed recruits just because we lost them to a traditionally better team is pathetic. If that’s the case, we should be okay with a top 50 class every year.

WTF absolutely freaking nailed it. Some of you guys need to get pissed like real SEC fans instead of putting on high heels, a uk hoop skirt and a go Bama pom pon (looking at you Lemond).

    • Hell yeah, man!!!

Exactly! You guys are both flipping spot on! We should head on down there to Alabama and drag his azz back up here! We ain’t taking it no more!!!

It was bound to happen eventually now that we’re actually recruiting with the big dogs. On one hand, I see their point that having players worth poaching is a good thing, but let’s not be prepared to get used to it. It was gonna happen and it will happen again, but that doesn’t make it a good thing.

Who cares if dude decommit. Let him go to bama. He just gna ride the bench. Best of luck to the kid. But that’s what happens at bama. You go n sit n watch players play. Cause they have to many players. Goodluck custis. Stoops will get plenty more four stars….

  22. UKNation
    9:26 pm April 14, 2014 Permalink

Well, you can look at it a few ways. Alabama never wanted any of our players before, now they do. That says a lot about our recruiting. It’s gonna happen, and if I am not mistaken haven’t we/aren’t we doing the same thing? Recruiting is vicious, not for the weak.

I don’t get this Bama fandom in the BBN. Did they lose to FSU? What about Oklahoma? You realize if you go to Alabama you will have to live there, right? Now I’m sure there are many fine people there but it doesn’t compare to Kentucky. But then that’s just me.

    • Slow down....
      9:46 pm April 14, 2014 Permalink

I wouldn’t use “fandom”, but “respect” There is a difference. And Alabama football deserves respect, kind of like UK does in basketball.

I agree, Bill. What’s nauseating are the stupid comparisons between the fanbases. The Bama slurping by our basketball fans is freaking annoying and BBN fans who do that crap can eat my ass.

Saben lost one kid from Kentucky, to Kentucky. I imagine his boots will be shaking next time he makes a trip to Lexington and puts up a no mercy 75 points on Kentucky

I don’t know if this young man reads this site but if he does I wish him the best. The SEC is the best college athletic conference in the country. Take advantage of your opportunity whether it is football, baseball or basketball and make the most of it. Good luck.
    GO CATS!!
