Mo Bamba’s mentor says he ensured Mo was fully compliant

Greer Love, the financial advisor caught in the middle of the new Mohamed Bamba story, has now spoken out about his relationship with the five-star center and Ibrahim Johnson’s recent allegations on Facebook Live.

A refresher for you: Johnson, Bamba’s older brother, spent 22 minutes accusing Love of providing cash and gifts to Bamba and tearing the family apart. Johnson said he could “see the devil in Love’s eyes.”

Anyway, Love has now stepped out of the shadows to defend his name in an exclusive chat with

“When Mo asked me to guide him and help coordinate the logistics of his recruitment,” Love told 247Sports, “I immediately engaged the former Chief Compliance Officer of two Big 10 / Big 12 schools, who provided frequent consultation on a variety of matters. Doing things the right way has been our top priority since day one. Mo’s got way too much to lose to take any chances on anything even remotely impermissible. With my 9-year, pre-existing relationship on the line with Mo personally, let alone his college eligibility, I took several additional measures to ensure that Mo was fully compliant every step of the way.”

With Johnson’s troubled past and lack of credibility, plus the fact the NCAA already cleared and vetted this relationship, this will probably soon die down and disappear.

But if it doesn’t, Calipari dodged a bullet again.

While I strongly suspect the kid is fine just because the NCAA “cleared” him doesn’t really mean as much as some think.

The NCAA cleared Derrick Rose three times remember…that didn’t work out very well in the end did it?
