The final college football game of the season will be played tonight when LSU and Clemson get together to determine the sport’s new champion. Can LSU lose? I say no, not after the hype video released last week.
Kickoff is at 8 p.m. You’ll have to record The Bachelor.
More to know on this Monday:
Kentucky remains undefeated in league play with a third consecutive win over the weekend. The Cats held off the high-scoring Alabama Crimson Tide in Rupp Arena, 76-67, with a big game from the Big 4.
Some notes from the win:
— It was Kentucky’s 1,000th regular season victory in SEC play.
— Nick Richards had his seventh double-double of the season and his eleventh game scoring in double figures. Kentucky is undefeated this season when Richards scores 10+ points.
— Ashton Hagans flirted with a triple-double with his 15 points, nine rebounds and nine assists. Hagans is currently on pace to set the single-season record for assists per game, held by Tyler Ulis.
— Immanuel Quickley hit five three-pointers and scored a team-high 19 points in the win. Quickley averages a team-best 18.8 points during the current four-game win streak.

There will be a shake-up in this week’s rankings as third-ranked Kansas lost at home to fourth-ranked Baylor on Saturday. At worst, Baylor will move to No. 3 in the new update, but the one-loss Bears could earn some first-place votes for the big road win at one of the game’s toughest venues. That’s now 12 straight wins, including five over ranked teams in that span. Make Baylor No. 1.
Kentucky will likely move up a place too, thanks to our friends at Ohio State losing again. Four straight losses for the Buckeyes since beating UK in Vegas.
And how about this buzzer-beater in the Atlantic 10?
Are you kidding me! Saint Joseph’s drills an absolutely insane shot to force OT against Davidson.

Rhyne Howard is really good, folks; although, her 22-point performance in Sunday’s win at Florida was a bit of a slow night given the heater the sophomore has been on lately. It was her lowest point total since she had 12 against Winthrop in Rupp Arena on Dec. 11 and her first game without a made three-pointer in 17 games. It also snapped her school-record streak of five games with 25 or more points, but her streak of 20+ points remains intact at six. Maci Morris has the school record in that category with seven games of 20 or more points, set last season.
Here’s the box score from the Cats’ big win in Gainesville:
Now, how do I get a Rhyne Howard jersey?
The NFL’s championship round will include two former Kentucky Wildcats playing to meet each other in the Super Bowl. On one side we have Za’Darius Smith with the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship, on the other we have Wesley Woodyard and the Tennessee Titans looking to pull off a third straight road upset in the playoffs. Titan Up.
Smith used Sunday’s game against Seattle to let Pro Bowl voters know he thinks he should be going to Orlando.
Also of note: longtime Packers fan Anthony Davis was one of the many celebrities in attendance:
