Michael Porter Jr. might visit UK on Sunday

Last night, Not That Michael Porter narrowed his list to ten and the Cats made the cut, along with Washington, Duke, Missouri, Stanford, UCLA, Syracuse, Indiana, Kansas and Virginia. Earlier today, the best small forward and second best player in the 2017 class told Evan Daniels that he may or may not stop by UK’s campus on Sunday for an unofficial visit:

Washington is considered the early favorite for Porter, whose younger brother Jontay committed to the Huskies earlier this week. Missouri also has strong family ties; Michael’s father is an assistant coach there and two of Michael’s sisters play on the women’s team. Yet, Kentucky is Kentucky, and getting Porter on campus will go a long way to helping the Cats’ chances. How could it not?

While the Not Michael Porter jokes are quite funny, I wonder if it gets back to him that this is such a big issue and something he’ll have to deal with when he gets here, if that might turn him away. Food for thought anyway.

I noticed that 5-star 2016 forward T.J. Leaf decommitted from Arizona last night. Though the Cats were apparently not involved in his recruitment thus far, do you think that there’s any chance that Cal reaches out to him now?

Per the story I read, Leaf, a native of El Cajon, Calif., is rated as the No. 9 prospect in his class according to ESPN. He’s a 6’10 face-up power forward, who also took visits to UCLA, Michigan and Florida before committing to Arizona. Duke was also showing interest.
