Matthew Mitchell Loses His Top 2017 Recruit

Bullitt East's Lindsey Duvall (12) makes a move on Butler's Jaelyn Penn (23).

The hits keep coming for UK Hoops.  2017 Bullitt East High School point guard Lindsey Duvall has decommitted from UK and reopened her recruitment, according to her father.

Duvall was a Top 10 player in America when she pledged to play for Matthew Mitchell.  Her career took a serious downward turn when a tumor was discovered on her left leg before her junior season.  She made an unexpected return near the end of the season before her Chargers fell to the eventual Sweet 16 Champs, Butler, in the Sixth Region Tournament.  She’s currently ranked as the nation’s #23 prospect by ESPN.

It’s only been five days since Mitchell lost his last player, Alexis Jennings.  If there’s one silver lining from Duvall’s decommitment — at least it doesn’t hurt them immediately?  The number of players on next year’s roster remains at seven.

Please bring back Mickie DeMoss. The players loved her and called her “Magic Johnson”

Man. How long does this continue? I have never seen any program fall apart as quickly as this one has.

The turmoil continues. I truly think the time has come for Burnheart to consider Mitchell’s replacement. Yep I said it.

My concern… is it time for Barnhart’s replacement? It’s Barnhart’s job to have have stopped this MONTHS ago. Another Joker Phillips story, Barnhart is letting his ‘friendship’ get in the way of business. Mitchell gets to hang around until the program is completely destroyed.

Stop this stuff. Just tell us what is going on? College basketball programs are more secret than international intelligence services. Tell us!

Isn’t it logical to think there are some SERIOUS problems with the Hoops program? And we really haven’t heard anything from Mitch, MM, or KSR other than general musings. I agree with the other posters … get to the bottom of this.

Can you imagine the negative recruiting tactics other schools are using against Mitchell now that the women’s team is decimated?

Tactics? All, they have to do is tell the truth. Heck…these girls already know whats going on. Why would they want to go to a school when every single player just transferred away from that school? Something is going on and I bet these girls talk to each other about it. I’m sure ALOT of people know what it is and its something pretty bad. I really like Mitchell, but he’s ultimately responsible and something isnt right here and he has got to go.

I wonder why none of these players have came out gave the real reason they left. They all just left us with the typical b.s. statement.

Everyone at UK athletics are in damage control mode. Anyone that has a clue and is a fan of college athletics know that something has drastically changed in our women’s basketball program. It will be very difficult to be competitive with seven players from just the number of minutes required for them to play. Coach has a long term contract which would cost $$$$$$$ to replace him without cause. Something or someone has damaged the program. Looks like UK will dig in their hills and ride it out. Trouble is, if they are wrong, how damaged will the program be next year or year after. So, they need to identify the culprit or event that has spoiled their reputation, because trust me, their reputation has been damaged. The longer they keep hiding it under the rug the more suspicious we become. As one of thousands of K Fund donors and thousands of BBN fans we should be informed. Take your medicine and move on.

Absentee coach, hiring bad assistants, all plausible stuff, but there has to be more.

no one knows whats going on but lossing a girl from our own back yard shouldnt happen. i think this shows just how bad the problem is and something needs to be done now to fix it, even if that means coach stepping down.

NO DOUBT in my mind that KSR knows what’s going on BUT since someone is trying to suck up to the Administrators at UK trying to get a permanent broadcasting position we’ll never know the truth unless Jerry Tipton explains it to us.

Yes its time to fire somebody.

Usually don’t post a second time, but here goes. Most every high school player in Kentucky dreams about playing at UK. So, this player, that has no doubt, dreamed of playing at UK thinks the situation is is so dire she will look elsewhere. Lifelong dream that was about to come to fruition is now up in flames. But, our public university says all is correctable and will be fine. That was, what, a couple weeks ago. We are still loosing recruits—–even in state players. If we can’t hold onto our own in state kids what message is that sending to players, parents, fans, other schools.
