Story time with Uncle Matt. Did anyone watch the debate last night.

Awesome that John Short got to meet Coach Cal.

    Ugh. The game. Ugh.

OK I’ll be the first negative football comment. Our defense was absolutely horrendous Saturday. On a similar note, shoutout to Westry for getting Dak’s 1st INT this season. Kept Woodson’s record alive.

Didn’t we hire a first time coach and pay him 3.5 million because he was such a great defensive minded coach? And we knew he wouldn’t be involved in “leaving for a better job rumors” like Petrino…oh wait…

Stoops already is among the highest compensated coaches on a per win basis. Just 4 wins since his last contract increase to 3.25 million dollars annually, puts him around $812,500 per win. Saban or Meyer do not make that much. Why would you leave that?

    • ukjaybrat
      11:58 am October 26, 2015 Permalink

Coaches care more about payment over time, not payment over wins. Only the school cares about payment over wins, which “right now” indicates he is being overpaid. However, i think that “right now” is an investment for the future.

I agree we don’t have an identity on offense. I sort of see it as not ever getting into any kind of rhythm in the play calling. It is difficult for the team to get into the flow if the play calling is so choppy.

Towles is somewhat like Jay Cutler. There is all the talent in the world and sometimes they both look like MVPs and then they turn right around and like athletes that have never played the game.

I thought that since Stoops is a defensive guy the team would take on the identity of a defensive team.

The coaches are learning on the job and the indecision and lack of organization is concerning.

Aight here’s my answer to Matt’s comment just now. We’re good. But we’re inexperienced and young. Unfortunately that means we’re just not consistent. Tennessee is going through the same thing with better talent.

When the glitter and gold of “competing in the SEC East” wears off, you see it for what it really is. Every other team has to have way below average talent and performance, we have to pray that some of the upper echelon stumble, and THEN have every single game break the way that it should play out in the hypotheticals of our minds. Friends, this is no way to exist as a football fan. Accept reality and that reality is that our Wildcats will never compete in the SEC on a consistent basis.

    • Reality bites
      10:50 am October 26, 2015 Permalink

The reality is that we will never compete because of homers that don’t think we can compete and don’t expect it from this school! All it takes is a great coach to turn this around in ONE year! Ole Miss, Miis state and Arkansas were just jokes of a program until a coach turned them around. Tenn and Florida sucked last year with the exact same talent. It just takes a coach that knows what he’s doing.

is everyone forgetting that we have a couple of key injuries on the roster right now. you guys act like we absolutely suck. asside from a couple receivers who can’t seem to catch the ball in key downs, we are still a really good football team despite those injuries.

we lost to a good team at home, a great team on the road, yes we had a crappy loss last week that should have been a W but guess what, it’s not the end of the world.

Our fans seem to overreact no matter what. Win a game and suddenly we’re gonna win the SEC east. Lose a game and we’re the “same old Kentucky”. Reality is somewhere in the middle, and as the guys said, we’ll know more next week.

Well please name us a school that isn’t hurt by injuries this yr. Nearly every team we faced this Yr had their best player out hurt. Now we face Tenn without Chubbs! We lost out last 6 in a row last year and will likely be close to the same this year. People need Look up the definition of “Improvement” ..

My stupid blunder (chubbs) in no way detracts from the fact you avoided admitting your point was blown out of the water and you had no clue as to what you were talking about mr Jaybrat. I guess there’s no way Eastern could hang with us either? Glad you hang your hat on wins over high school teams though…

    • ukjaybrat
      11:39 am October 26, 2015 Permalink

I didn’t avoid admission, I disagree with that opinion altogether. Look if you want to sit there and preach doom and gloom, just be like the rest and go jump off the bandwagon. it’s almost basketball season, so it’s not like you’re going to be on it much longer anyway. Like Realme said, too many people are too exterme on either side of the facts… fact is, we have struggled in games. fact is, despite that, we still have a pretty decent team that can get us to 6 or 7 wins. what we don’t know is if our fans are going to be stubborn and say “screw it, i’m done” and move on to basketball season. If that’s the case, fine. be that way, i don’t care. don’t let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya. What i don’t understand though, are all the people the claim to be a uk fan that bitch and moan about towles and losses. Towles isn’t aaron rodgers and we aren’t the green bay packers. if you are expecting this team to win every game and at the very least never get blown out, you are sadly mistaken. because we will screw up in games like aurbun, and we will lose to teams that outmatch us in every position. we are a young team and until they get more experience, we will have growing pains. So again I say, if you can’t handle that, just hit the door and start cheering for basketball.

      1. It’s Chubb, not Chubbs.
      2. Chubb plays for Georgia, not Tennessee.

Last year was last year, and has no bearing on this year. We were 2-10 two years in a row, and 5-7 last year. Our record will be better than that this season. How is that not improvement?

I’ve said this from day 1. Patrick Towles needs to have the green light to run the ball more often. We will only be a “decent” team until this happens. At the college level, the most dangerous offenses have a dual-threat QB.

Injury is a chance you take. If he’s capable, he should run more. He is capable. Look at the Heisman winners. Mariota, Manziel, RG3, Cam Newton. College football is a dual-threat QB’s dream. At this point in the year, they should have kept Barker’s redshirt alive.

The bourbon lawsuit is about registering a trademark for Kentucky Mist moonshine. UK isn’t suing over the use of the word Kentucky, they are disputing the trademark registration Kentucky Mist is trying to get because they own the trademark for the word Kentucky. In other words, they have no problem with the company using the word Kentucky, however they do have a problem with the “particular trademark registration” Kentucky Mist is trying to get.

I said from day one that even making it to Atlanta would have been too much to ask right now. and two weeks ago, that was absolutely still in the realm of possibility (ok it’s still there, but the chances went from 10% to 0.01%). Someday we could get there. just not this year. Success for me this year was going to a bowl game. and that is still pretty high with 2 wins over 5 games: UT, UGA, UV, Char, and UL…. too many people think that is impossible.

Which we all agree is the case, but then people that don’t know what they’re talking about look at teams in a vacuum that HAVE turned it around in a year and think we suck or stoops sucks because we didn’t do that.

Here’s the deal: Of course Pitino knew. But he has a clause in his contract that says he cannot be fired due to the actions of any 3rd party (pretty smart for him to put that in there, huh?). It certainly is in his best interest to take steps to make it appear he had no part in it. The whole time it was going on, he made sure it appeared that he was far away from the action.

  23. Stoops is Good
    11:56 am October 26, 2015 Permalink

So many people point out the bad Stoops has done. Stoops has done way more good while here, hes managed to recruit at a level never seen in the program. He has brought the University together in support of the football team. Brought a new state of the art recruiting room/stadium. Won games and competed in games Kentucky has no business in. This team looks bad in one game the whole season and Stoops is on the hot seat?

    • ukjaybrat
      12:03 pm October 26, 2015 Permalink

agreed. if stoops leaves, it won’t be “just because” the next job is better. it’ll be because some of the dumber fans have ushered him to the door. like #20 said, maybe we just have to hire joker back. It’s like some fans don’t remember where we were 4 years ago.

    • The Rest of the story
      12:07 pm October 26, 2015 Permalink

Looks bad in one game? Are you kidding me? Looked bad in game one against a terrible ULL team and barely won. Looked bad in game two and barely won. Could’t score a TD in 5 trips inside the red zone in game 3 and lost. Won a game in overtime against an FCS EKU who had no business being on the field against us. Totally blew an easy win against a terrible Auburn team and you have the audacity to say just one game. You my friend are a true blue kool aid drinker. This team has been mismanaged, ill coached and totally lost in the braintrust on the sidelines. All we got here are coaches in training and that spells disaster for some time to come. Way too much talent on this team to play as poorly as they have the whole season.

    • counter point
      12:12 pm October 26, 2015 Permalink

I’m not saying Stoops has done bad (well, except for not hiring a special teams coordinator and not having his team prepared for situational substitutions), and yes, he probably has done more good than bad, but shouldn’t he? If doing more good than bad is the job requirement, then a 51% ratio of wins to losses is acceptable.

I don’t think Stoops has brought in a new recruiting room/stadium. I think the boosters that threw in the $$ would argue with you there, as would fans that are getting hijacked on ticket prices and parking passes to pay for it. What games has he won we have no business winning? South Carolina? Oh please. What games have we competed in that we have no business competing in? How about EKU and ULLafayette games that we should DOMINATE but don’t compete in? This team didn’t look bad in just one game! It has looked bad in stretches of EVERY game and not yet really put together more than 2 quarters of decent play.

And I bet every coach from Guy Morriss to Rich Brooks to yes, even Joker wishes they were given the resources and a fat raise based on nothing more than 11-14th SEC ranked recruiting classes. Yay
