Matt, Drew, and Russ Smith come to a compromise

Bmlz5VpIgAAStTu

Matt and Drew are in Louisville for the Ferdinand’s Ball right now, and ran into Louisville star Russ Smith. Last year, Peyton Siva made the guys throw up Ls for a picture, but this year, the guys made Russ agree to throw up three goggles if they put up that god awful hand sign one more time.

I hate to say this, but that’s a good look for Russdiculous.

Good to see that we are getting along with Big Brother Louisville. We’ll probably be third in the state again this year :(.

And no, being big a college bball does not make us big brother. Basketball is a molehill compared to the mountain that is college fb.

You are saying “we” and “us” like you’re a UK fan. I don’t think those words mean what you think they mean.

      8:52 pm May 1, 2014 Permalink

You can’t argue with the revenue numbers. But I do believe that UK is the older institution, so technically UK is the big brother. UL is having a heck of a run in all college sports though. We are closing the gap in football. No way that we settle with being third best anymore.

    • Yep
      8:52 pm May 1, 2014 Permalink

That’s what losers in basketball say.

I’m sure football is the most followed in North Carolina, too. And come to think of it, when I think “Indiana”, I think football.

PS: You can’t be “Big Brother” if you’re not even relevant nationally. Sorry.

When I think Duke, Kansas, UCLA, Indiana, UNC, UK even UL etc I always think of football, when I think Alabama and Notre Dame I am always reminded of their basketball success. Who gives a damn some schools excel more than others in different sports. Football is the most overrated sport there is

    • Jeff
      9:09 pm May 1, 2014 Permalink

@Yawn, football is overrated? LOL! You wouldn’t be saying that if we didn’t have a mediocre football history, and if we weren’t the ONLY school in the SEC that likes basketball more than football, making us the red-headed step child of the SEC. Sorry, bud. Football generates more revenue than Basketball. Alabama football is the biggest brand in college athletics. 3 titles in the last 5 years. Bigger than UNC/Duke/Kentucky/Kansas in basketball, and bigger than any of the baseball and hockey programs.

    • Fred
      9:27 pm May 1, 2014 Permalink

To add to Jeff’s point, although it digresses from the conversation as a whole. Football overrated? Football is like a great game of chess where the minds at the coaching helm actually matter. I believe that American football may be the greatest sport in the world.

      SHAWN,

WHOA WHOA WHOA there buddy ole pal… As much I as like your input on the matter, Factually you couldn’t be MORE inaccurate. Being a big Kentucky history buff, I can tell you for a fact that Louisville is the older institution.
UofL was founded in 1798 (20 years after the City, making UofL the oldest City funded institution in the Nation)
UK was only founded in 1865… That is a FULL 67 years after UofL
So… Technically by the age of the institution, Louisville is big brother. And like you said… cant forget those Revenue numbers and that brand new sports attire deal (3rd largest in the country)

    • Resolved!
      10:14 pm May 1, 2014 Permalink

Well “wow” resolved it for us. UL is the big brother by being the elder by a whooping 67 years. That Adidas deal isn’t a joke either. That proves that UL football is big time nationally and with Bobby P they are going to attract audiences. And let no one be fooled. Football is nothing compared to football and UK football is projected last in the conference again. It annoys me when our fans think that the world looks up at us because of basketball. Weight is probably 5 parts football and 1 part bball.

      Right,

Well… considering that UofL just landed the 3rd largest sports attire deal in the country… It seems that you SERIOUSLY don’t know what in the hell you are talking about. UofL was in national news for a week over that alone. UofL was in national news for another week when forbes found us to have the most profitable college sports franchise… oh yea… and that “YEAR OF THE CARDINAL” and “LOUISVILLE SLAM” stuff… you know, no big deal… just ruled college sports and all. nothing big to talk about.

    • hal

how is that arena deal going for the city? you know, the deal where the bonds are rated as junk. and why does uofl ath dept take so much money from uofl’s general fund every year if the sports are so profitable? and in no way was uofl’s apparel deal talked about for “over a week”. notre dame’s was bigger and more newsworthy and no one cared after 2 days of hearing about it.

    • Wow...
      11:32 pm May 1, 2014 Permalink

      Hal,

Perhaps you should do some more research because last I checked the YUM! center was rated in the top 10 best arenas in the country by ROLLING STONE magazine (AND it was the ONLY college arena on the list). EVERY Kentuckian in the state should be thankful for that arena because it makes Kentucky relevant. we get sooooo many good famous performers come to our state because of that state of the art arena (AND for the record… the arena WAS built for the STATE and the state’s BIGGEST CITY as well as THE UNIVERSITY… so get over yourself). also… stop making up crap. you are backed into a corner and have nothing else. there is ZERO evidence for the filth you speak. it is a FACT that UofL has the most profitable college sports franchise in the nation. deal with it.

True story. A Loserville fan got a few of our group of friends to throw an L once. Three of them are doctors. Now every time we play UL the Lousy fan sends an obnoxious picture of them throwing the L and it says 3 out of 4 doctors pick Louisville to win. Lame I know, but the Cat fans that threw the L were asking for it. Never throw an L.

FIRSTLY, “washed up UofL has-been”? what in the hell are you talking about? he was a fantastic player at a very good in-state school. he was one of the highest scoring in one of the winningest classes of all time and has an amazing personality to boot.
Secondly, We always talk about UofL sports here obviously because they are our big brother and own us in almost every catergory. DUH… can you say “year of the cardinal” or “Louisville slam”? They have the most profitable college sports franchise in the NATION according to forbes and they have the most loyal fanbase according to sports analytics research. they also now have the 3rd largest sports attire deal in the country… UK isnt even close to up there. AND they own every team in every sport. definitely gives us something to envy.

Not sure I would ever put an “L” up for any reason. Also, do 3 Goggles still represent UK? I’m pretty sure I didn’t see many last year, and this year’s team likely won’t do it. Time to shelve the goggles. You guys should to a Hood banjo strum kick instead.

I agree dude… Just about every other team nowadays pulls more threes than we do per game… the 3 goggles are just about as relevant to UK basketball as plane tickets are to getting to the kitchen..
Hate to say it… but at least Louisville’s sign is something completely unique and long lasting. UK really doesn’t have a “Sign”.. any team can really do the goggles.

The 3-goggles weren’t even started by UK. If anything the sign belongs to the Portland Trailblazers. They are the ones that made it popular. It has ZERO to do with UK.

UK is 7-0 against UL in 2014 in Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Baseball and Softball.

Can someone explain to me how UL is an all-round sports program of a higher caliber than UK when UK keeps smashing UL in every sport?

    • Dave
      11:49 am May 2, 2014 Permalink

Now that U of L is finally in a big boy conference lets see if they fare as well in the ACC than their previous conf affiliations.I respect Lou’s sports program as they are well run by Jurich and they are very profitable. What I can’t respect is hiring a f-ball coach with the baggage Petrino has and the way he treated them the first go around. We all know Pitino’s deal as well and his past transgression, which was down played at the time it happened. Saying this I know some U of L troll is going to get on here and say something about coach Cal who has never been found to be guilty hmself of any NCAA major infractions. The sanctity of marriage vs the perception that a coach always cheats. What’s worse? Oh BTW-Big brother- 2-1 in fall team sports . Football we know but UK won in Womens Soccer and Volleyball.

      12:28 pm May 2, 2014 Permalink

Firstly, Your numbers are quite off… idk where you get them, but you need to check yourself before you wreck yourself.
Secondly, UofL is much better than us across the board in every sport. They whoop our ass usually. They are well known and respected in Basketball, Football, Soccer, Swimming, Track, Cheerleading, etc…
There is a reason why they are consistently ranked higher than us during the regular season in EVERY sport. They were in Football, Basketball, AND baseball this year.

  22. UpAllNight2
    12:34 pm May 2, 2014 Permalink

    Dave,
Since you ask the question, I will answer it.. what is worse you say? well, considering we are all on here to discuss SPORTS.. I would say NCAA violations are the worse offense in our spectrum. What someone does in their personal life is their problem.. It is between them, their spouse and family, and god… honestly, the media and fans should stay out of it. Period.
NOW, what happens on the court is a different story.. thats what they get paid for… thats what the fans look to.. that is what we are all here ultimately to discuss. So the fact that Cal has more NCAA violations than any coach in history is VERY troubling to me. HE LITERALLY has left like 3 programs in shambles and flames in his wake. it is disgraceful… It wont be long until he does the same to UK.

    UP ALL NIGHT
you obviously are speaking out of fear, ignorance or jealousy.what ever one makes you feel better about your self you go with that one.Cal does not have ANY; NOT ONE! NCAA violation on his record. Camby hired an agent before he was supposed too. Roes’sproblem had nothing to do with Cal. It all in writing from the Ncaa.Cal had no knowledge of either case. I wish there was some way they could put these facts in picture for so all you dumb asses could understand the facts. Here’s some more facts UNC has had a class that does not exist (African American studies) for over 20 years hundreds and hundreds of athletes have gotten credits towards graduating. Yet were is your out rage?
U OF L had a coach testify to the ncaa that he knowingly cheated.fact at a formal school the ncaa recommended the not keep Clint on staff.Ul being who they are (high moral character) the said no will keep him. They picked up Dyer who got released from 2 other schools for GUNS AND DRUG’S. They lied for Bohannon and Ware countess time till the lies caught up with the school now they are both gone.then there’s patrino. Gave UL the finger years ago does the same thing to his pro team then has an affair with a girl puts her on the payroll. Gets caught lies about it gets his ass bet and lies about that. After him and his father begging UK to give him a job UK said NO. Finally WKU gives him a job. Then he screws them to go back to UL LOUISVILLE IS THE LAUGHLIN STOCK OF THE NATIONAL . For all the above reseasons.2nd chance U. Scandle U.

Dude… did you write that with a brick? HAHAHAHAHHAHA XD once i barely made it past your incoherent rambling, horrible grammar, and typical inbred redneck logic… nothing you said made ANY sense.
FIrstly, You are WRONG and you need to go do more research. Cal HAS been sited with violations and even JOKES ABOUT IT HIMSELF. He has more Vacated wins under his belt than any coach in the sport. look it up. there is a reason he left all 3 programs that he did… because the year after they were put in sanctions.
Secondly, Petrino NEVER went to look for a job at UK… he knew better than that. UK football is a JOKE.. LITERALLY the laughing stock of the nation. where coaches go to die. there is a reason even WKU whoops your ass on the gridiron…
Bottom line… UK has an NCAA violation for every championship they have… its a joke of a school
