Mark Stoops has been a very strong football coach for Kentucky over the past few years, but his horse didn’t fare quite as well during Friday evening’s Kentucky Oaks race. Street Band, who Stoops is a part owner of, finished the race in seventh place.
At the time the race began, Street Band’s odds were set at 25-1. Coach Stoops knew she was a long shot for the victory, but he’s used to defying the odds.

The winner of the race was Serengeti Empress, at 18-1 odds.
There was a bit of a scary moment as the race began, as Positive Spirit stumbled out of the gates. Both the horse and the jockey crashed onto the dirt track, but post-race reports indicate neither was seriously injured.
