Looking forward to hearing from Stoops. Ryan is your son any better?

    First, a bit of information:
Much has been made that Dawson did not call the plays at West Virginia.
In his two years as OC at UK, Mike Leach didn’t call the plays either. Mumme did.
Bob Stoops at Oklahoma hired Leach from UK.
Oklahoma finished 5-6 in 1998. (Sound similar to UK’s record?)
With Leach as OC, Oklahoma went 7-4 in 1999, and went to the Independence Bowl.
Here’s hoping the same thing happens with Dawson in 2015.
    Now a question for Stoops:
Will all the assistant coaches be staying? Have they met Dawson?
Any hard feelings that one of them wasn’t elevated to OC?

I know this show is going to be football-centered, but wanted to share this. I was driving in this morning and was flipping through channels. Listened in to the “Morning Underdogs” or whatever they call themselves on 790 just for grins. The Card fans all think they are going to have an easy win on the 27th. One guy was predicting a 16 – 18 point win for Louisville – says UK doesn’t have an answer for Harrell. Another guy said UK has played such an easy schedule that they won’t be ready for the kind of defense that Louisville brings to the table. It was good for a laugh! You can’t spell “delusional” without a “U” and an “L”!

Who has Louisville beaten other than Ohio State? Their preseason schedule is much weaker than ours.

“much weaker” is an understatement lol
no one’s noncon schedule even comes close to what we will play this year

    Matt,

Can you apologize to Shannon Dawson for putting your chips in the Lincoln Riley pot, thus turning half of our fanbase against Shannon Dawson before he’s even called his first play. You wield a lot of power and influence with much of our fanbase and because Lincoln Riley was your guy, anyone who was hired not named Lincoln Riley would be a “bad hire” to a big part of the fanbase. Please talk this guy up so that the idiots in our fanbase, who can’t think for themselves, will give this guy a fighting chance.

Dawson wasn’t even being mentioned until the past few days so I don’t think we can put this all on KSR. Stoops will be on in 25 minutes to talk up his guy…that is HIS job, not Matt’s.

Not that a single player is bigger than the program as a whole, but I hope this doesn’t sway Damien Harris away from UK. Listened to an interview of him on the news last night, and he sounds like an extremely well-spoken young man – exactly the kind of player we need to stay here in the state!

Let people think what they want. I keep running the game over in my mind and I simply think UK is going to cause Louisville major issues offensively. The Cards will be forced to shoot contested outside shots late in the shot-clock. The only prayer UofL has is if they force Kentucky into a lot of turnovers.

      10:46 am December 18, 2014 Permalink

U of L’s only chance at beating us is the same as everyone else’s, shoot lights out from the three. I think a team will have to hit an absurd number of threes in order to beat us.

Matt, I would imagine you being a fan of Hogan’s Heroes (I am)… could you or anyone else imagine what a modern day version would be like (and the outcry) with ISIS/Taliban etc. or any of our other present enemies being the butt of the jokes? The Germans seem to have handled it well… really, I’m surprised it hasn’t been shelved by the PC police.

Correct. We didn’t do a lot to keep Tubby either but he was not nor would he have been fired the year he left.

    • CATandMONKEY
      11:14 am December 18, 2014 Permalink

Good analogy. Although in my opinion Tubby >>> Curry. Under Tubby we were usually good, seldom terrible and many times, great.

    • Cat House
      11:26 am December 18, 2014 Permalink

Curry went 10-2 his last year at Bama with losses to Auburn and in the Sugar Bowl. There was no raise in his new contract and his ability to hire assistants was removed. His response was to leave for Kentucky.

So Louisville is touting this JUCO kid they recruited who “chose UL over Bama and Notre Dame” … but he didn’t have an offer from Bama or Notre Dame, so did he really “Choose” Louisville? Do we spin lies like that for some of our recruits to make them and us look better?

    • J-Dub421
      10:51 am December 18, 2014 Permalink

No, because we don’t have to. Matt Elam and others had legitimate offers from Alabama and other schools.

Cuban food is NOT spicy! If you want spicy Cuban food, you would need to add your own hot sauce, except for a few exceptions. Chickenor pork and yellow rice are two staples, along with black bean soup or black beans and rice. I also love fried plantains!

How can ANY UK fan not love Mark Stoops? This is a football coach unlike the one he replaced. I really hope the new OC works out better than the one he replaces as I myself never thought highly on him. I really look forward to next year.
