LSU now has the #1 recruiting class in the country

Since John Calipari came to town, we’ve gotten pretty used to having the #1 recruiting class in the country. In fact, Cal has pulled in the top class five of the past six years. Until this morning, Kentucky still held on to the top spot in the 2015 team rankings, but not anymore. Four-star shooting guard Brandon Sampson committed to LSU today, vaulting the Tigers to the top spot in 247 Sports’ team rankings:

Sampson, a Baton Rouge native, joins Ben Simmons, the top player in the class; and Antonio Blakeney, another five-star shooting guard. To make things ever more interesting in Baton Rouge, Arizona transfer Craig Victor will become eligible in time for conference play next season. LSU is still in the mix for Malik Newman, although Mississippi State and Kentucky seem to have the momentum right now. You have to think that Kentucky will add at least one more elite prospect, which will likely put them back on top, or at least in the top three when all is said and done.

There’s already been a resurgence in recent years, but the Kentucky/LSU series is about to get a lot more interesting.

They’ve got UK preseason #1 overall for next season when we may not even be the best team in the SEC. We’ve got to at least land Mulder and one of the other three possibilities (Diallo, Brown, or Newman).

So are people going to start accusing LSU of paying players now? (For the record, I don’t think they are, it’s just what all the haters spout every time a top recruit commits to Kentucky.)

EXACTLY! I said something similar earlier – why doesn’t anyone find it suspicious that these also-ran football schools are suddenly showing up with top recruiting classes?

I’d be worried if they had a coach.

So what…it’s been proven that the most talent doesn’t win championships. Got plenty of talent to win a National Championship already.

I’m actually glad to see this. Tired of hearing/reading how weak the SEC is year after year!
Still afraid Duke will sneak in there and get a couple,of,the top recruits left…

Sorry for all the commas. Typing too fast on the iPad. Ugh

Unfortunately, they have the worst in-game coach in the country.

You mean “fortunately” instead of “unfortunately”?

LSU will be like the LSU of old – loaded with talent, but with a coach who doesn’t know his ass from his elbow. They will piss away another first or second round game in the NCAA tourney just like last year.

Coach Cal, you’re slipping man. If you don’t do something about this quick, you’ll end up on the hot seat. And by the hot seat, I mean maybe a 5th final four.

So LSU has the #1 recruiting class as of today. It will be interesting to see what the worst coach in the SEC can do with it.

Guys, I see all this “they have the worst coach” crap. What about Cal and all the studs he’s had? All the talent we had the last couple of seasons with no championship. I’m a Cal fan, but lets not hate on Jones just yet. Jones and LSU almost beat our Cats this last season.

We really need at least of of Cal’s targets

We’ll have LSU in Rupp this year (so no worries with their roster), and that .04 lead LSU has right now will be short lived.

We just need a transfer to take our 1st place back…..minimum.
