Louisville to name interim athletic director this afternoon

The University of Louisville will name its interim athletic director in a press conference set for 3:45 pm this afternoon, the school announced this morning.

The new AD will take over for Tom Jurich, who was put on administrative leave, finally, because his athletic department is corrupt and in shambles.

But for some reason beyond belief, Jurich still has the support of UofL’s coaches and a large portion of his fan base, so who knows if it is truly the end for him at Louisville.

I think they are naming a new A.D. today and naming a new President tomm and the new President will be Tom Jurich.

Kind of thinking if the school wishes to participate in the NCAA for any sport, Jurich is gone.

This is now more about cutting the rope and dumping costly, unnecessary risk, at this stage. Jurich gave them a great program, but gambled with the shadiest of characters to build it. That gamble cost him, and the University, tremendously.

The last several years was enough, for any of the alumni, of the University. Those with the best interest of THE UNIVERSITY, want him gone. Those that want to enhance the education and the value of a degree want the sports program under control.

The value of a degree from the University of Louisville, weighs heavy on this decision. Keeping Jurich, will devalue the University of Louisville, significantly.

I feel sorry for the Alumni. No matter how well they did in college, they will still be seen as being from “that school.”

    He is gone.

Did you miss the letter to the president from one of the (if not, THE) major donor? He disagrees with all of your points.

Patterson’s letter is a symptom. They’re controlled by the money.

      @ TNO:

The reason all of the other donors left the University was because of the runaway sports program. Did you miss that point? The financial side of the University certainly did not. With the last big donar, they are hardly able to pay the light bills.

If they want to limit costly exposure, they will cut ties. If they don’t, it will not matter what big donar sends in for cash, the University will be looking at closing the doors.

Do you not understand, Jurich is a major part of the FBI investigation? That cost could be potentially more than what any donar could give.

Donars are great, but I know several (my wife being one) that have stopped their annual donations as alumni. Those donations are down significantly. Just ask Pappa John. Donations kept dropping, and what was still coming in, had been spent supporting a corrupt system.

It is not coincidence, there is and tnterim President, AD and basketball coach.

      What memos have you missed?

Did you also attend Scandal U? Kept misspelling donor as “donar” and spelled Interim as “tnterim” while attempting to sound educated as you became a keyboard warrior against TheNewOriginal. Wait a second… is this Jom Turich from the photo above???

Jom Turich comes to us from the University of Lewisville, where he just completed a tens of dollars renovation to Sbarro Redbirds Stadium.

We are talking about the school where a student sued Katina Powell for devaluing her degree, instead of suing the people who really devalued it. Kill the messenger and party on.

I hate that money is the driving force behind Jurich’s future. These coaches and fans want to keep him because he has built such a big program and brought millions to UofL. Who cares if he did it while hiring shady coaches and getting ludicrous contracts. At least he made millions and competes with UK.

UK basically cleaned house in 89 and forced a UK great from the helm of the Athletic Department for a violation that was MUCH smaller (and doesn’t have much evidence to back up). They hired a new coach (HA!) that had no connections to the departing administration. UK wanted nothing to do with that dark time in our history. Yet, UofL just sees dollar signs. It’s pretty disgusting and a lot of this comes at the cost of all KY taxpayers.

If anything, Jurich should be canned for taking 6 million dollars in laundered money that was donated, mostly earmarked for scholarships

Drew Franklin, you mention this ” University of Louisville” in your article. I am not aware of any such place. Would this be code for U-6 ?

if the U of L really stood by what they are about they would name Katina Powell the athletic director.

You know, two of my kids worked for their school’s “alumni phonathon” program, calling alumni to ask for donations.

Can you imagine what their counterparts at UL are enduring right now, calling alumni and asking for money during all of this? I feel sorry for them.
