yeah he will come back and they will end up with a 2 seed becasue “it’s not fair to those kids that they lost all those games without coach k. we shouldn’t ‘punish’ them by giving them the 5-6 seed they deserve”

So how far down the draft board will Bolden and Giles fall playing at Duke? Will they stay in the lottery?

How is charging through the opposing team’s huddle like an a-hole not something he should be reprimanded for? They just keep letting him act like an insane child. One day when he goes too far, it will be on the Duke coaching staff.

    • I’m sure Allen would have made all those bricked 3’s if K had been there.

Grayson isn’t good enough to play in the NBA, but I still want him to get drafted just so someone like Boogie or Draymond Green will knock his block off.

    • RealCatsFan
      10:50 am January 24, 2017 Permalink

I have seen a couple of news outlets saying that he won’t play, but that is based on KP’s statement that he is “day to day”. My feeling is that they are trying to keep UT off balance. I bet he plays too. We can’t afford to drop games to SEC bottom feeders to keep our seed, and UT qualifies as a bottom feeder, even though they are a decent team, especially at home.

    • ukjaybrat

the fact that we didn’t get anything definitive leads me to think he will sit out just to make sure he doesn’t re-tweak it RIGHT before the only remaining game on the schedule anyone cares about

I have been a little concerned about UT being a trap game. I was worried Kansas had a week off to prepare for us, but then I saw that they play WVU tonight, which isn’t a game Kansas can overlook. It made me feel a little better. You know WVU will give Kansas a war tonight.

  13. Well, door installers are here today. They already installed a new front door after the would-be thief(s) busted it. Security storm doors being put in today. Up next: bars on the windows when we can scrape up the $$$.

The thugs(s) have cost us a lot of money even though they didn’t get anything. I’m finding out break-ins are epidemic around here. Chief of Police was at our neighborhood association meeting and said what happened to us is probably a trial run for the next time, maybe even while we’re home. I also heard that someone I know had that happen to her. Broke in once, didn’t take anything. Came back while she was home, she hid in small room with gun, they went upstairs and cleaned her out while she was there. An older couple at church had a break in (they weren’t home), and they took her mom’s jewelry, some guns…

That sucks. While we were gone on vacation earlier this year, apparently someone was breaking into cars in my neighborhood (my next door neighbors told me about it when we got back.) Fortunately my car was with us and my husband’s car was at the repair shop. Either way it was two dudes who had broken out of prison who were caught after a man-hunt for a few days.

Hopefully your dog will keep them from coming back.

    • Booby Petrino
      11:28 am January 24, 2017 Permalink

Idk what town you live in but there are tons of break-ins in Lexington. A couple of months ago my friend and her husband were asleep when they heard a crash…someone threw a brick through their sliding door and broke in. My friend’s husband grabbed his gun and ran downstairs, chased two of them out and was holding one at gunpoint in the yard while his wife called the police. Next thing he knows, they come plowing through her yard in a stolen vehicle and run over my friend and clip her husband. Thieves jump in the car and drive away. Still haven’t caught them. My friend survived, had to live in a backbrace for a couple of months.

    • Thanks for the kind words all!

Laker Cat, we’re okay in that area, just different calibers. πŸ˜‰

    • And I did say caliberS, not caliber…

    • Booby Petrino
      11:30 am January 24, 2017 Permalink

I should clarify, there was a third person waiting (in a stolen vehicle) on the two that broke in. So the 3rd one is the one who ran over my friends.

This is totally stressing me out. πŸ™‚ I’m not comfortable having a gun in my house, because I live with someone who struggles with depression. Does anyone have a security system they recommend? What’s better? A traditional alarm that goes off if a door or window is opened, or a camera system you can monitor online? I always get bogged down in the details…

    • Wow Petrino! And wow to RG454’s comment below.

    • Realme, I say all of the above if you can afford it. We don’t have cameras. I’m going to look into it.

I read one story about 2 cops getting arrested (not where I live) for breaking into pawn shops and stealing stuff. They were taking out the cameras with pellet guns before breaking in.

    • And sorry…I didn’t mean to be a downer.

      11:38 am January 24, 2017 Permalink

We have a husky/wolf who roams at night and a St. Shepherd (pretty big boy) who can do some damage while we’re not home. It’s not all about the gun. Gun just helps us sleep at night.

    • Realme
      11:38 am January 24, 2017 Permalink

Not at all, someone on here may take more precautions than they were before. And we all got to read rg’s story about one burglar who did not get away with it!

    • J-Dub421
      11:40 am January 24, 2017 Permalink

Cameras are good, but be sure that they are secure if you can watch them online; you don’t want strangers hacking into your security system. (My husband goes on and on about that when we see those commercials with people turning off their lights, etc. from vacation on their phones. Same with refrigerators that can order groceries for you online.)

    • Wow Laker Cat! That’s impressive. I saw a video from a gun training guy who also apparently trains dogs. He has a St. Bernard and all he has to say is “Door” and it runs to the door barking like crazy. We have a dog, but she’s not trained like that.

    • Laker Cat 18
      11:44 am January 24, 2017 Permalink

Realme – I understand the depression aspect of gun ownership. I respect that. If you’re willing to step outside of the box along those lines, maybe a gun safe if there are others in the household capable of making those decisions. If not, camera security system could work, but won’t prevent. It will only attempt to hold those accountable after the fact.

    • RealCatsFan
      11:45 am January 24, 2017 Permalink

Wow, some crazy stuff you guys are talking about. We have been lucky enough so far to not really have any crime in our immediate area – not saying it can’t happen, but one reason we moved way out here away from town.

That being said, I believe in “hope for the best, but prepare for the worst”. We do have a security system, but no real cameras – some dummies however to act as a deterrent. Our dog died last fall – we will be getting a new one in the spring. Law enforcement folks will say that can be a BIG deterrent, especially a good sized one that makes some noise. Often the noise alone is enough to deter a lot of thieves. We also keep the landscaping trimmed back, and I just invested in some extra security lighting. Still need to address better deadlocks on a couple of doors.

As far as firepower, we have a couple of handguns, but if an intruder is in the house, I am reaching for my 12-guage. I won’t miss in the dark with that mother! And the wife and kids and I all have a secret code-word to yell out if one of them happens to be up in the middle of the night and startles one of us. Never had to use it, but just in case – to prevent a terrible mistake.

    • J-Dub, smart home stuff is all vulnerable to hacks. It’s how hackers brought down the net in the NE US last year. Most (if not all) of that stuff uses Linux I believe, so you are correct about securing anything that is connected to the net.

BTW, I don’t understand the need to have a smart everything in the house. If it helps to keep your house secure, yes, but a lot of it is overkill. I can flip on a light switch with my hand (or a Clapper if I get that lazy!).

Our St. Shepherd is a big baby, over 100 lbs of him. If I say “hugs,” he’ll jump up in my arms and stand over 6′ tall on his hind legs. I would dare anyone to approach any one of us negatively or bust in the front door and cross him. I doubt I’d even have to fire a shot to protect.

If you’re looking for a dog to help protect, I would suggest a full-blooded German Shepherd. We’ve had many breeds and those are by far the smartest you’ll find. They have a level of aggressiveness that isn’t too much, but enough to work for the purpose if they’re trained correctly. We adopted our St. Shepherd (St. Bernard, German Shepherd mix) just to give our wolf a companion for some anxiety relief. Those of you familiar with those breeds know what I’m talking about.
