Lexington’s Eastern Little League wins Game 1, plays again Monday

Lexington’s Eastern Little League all-star team is one step closer to reaching the Little League World Series.

Eastern won its first game in the Great Lakes Regional on Sunday, defeating the team out of Indiana, 1-0. Ty Bryant got the start for Lexington’s 12-year-old squad and pitched four innings before Joey Howard and Leighton Harris finished the job in one-inning relief appearances. The group allowed only one hit in the entire game.

Eastern will be back in action today at 1 pm against the team out of Illinois, which hasn’t played a regional game yet. That game can be see live on WatchESPN via this link.

The Great Lakes Regional is a six-team double-elimination between teams from Kentucky, Ohio, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana and Illinois, played just outside Indianapolis this week.

If Eastern can win it all, it will be Lexington’s first team in the Little League World Series since 1978.
