I don’t know where they went, but I’m so glad they’re back.

Great game last night. The guys played some defense and the shots where taken without hesitation. Hawkins was great, well all the guys played good.

  3. Runningunnin454, I don’t know if you saw my late reply yesterday, but I think the “Rainin’ 3’s out of the sky!” commercial was for Sprite.

Saw it, and you may be right. It was on during all the sports broadcasts.

And I think Kentucky RAIN would be a good NBA team name.
And, they could pipe in Elvis.

    • That’s awesome!

Kentucky Riflemen too, but the left would never allow that.

      Mascot?

    • RealCatsFan
      10:57 am February 15, 2017 Permalink

I still like Thoroughbreds, or Colonels. Riflemen would be too much like WVA and their Mountaineers. I guess if we ever played them maybe we could give both mascots paint guns and let them go at it. 🙂

“but the left would never allow that.”, come on, man please don’t be like that. A generalized statement “you always”, or “you never” is just wrong. It makes an assumption that continues to divide us. Are you assuming that ALL liberals want to “take away your guns”?

    • RealCatsFan

At the risk of going completely off the rails on this topic, Stuck on Blue has a point. I think probably 75% of Americans are moderate in one direction or the other – they might lean a little bit to the left or the right, but they generally don’t think in blanket terms about people. The big problem is that our political pundits on both the left and the right prefer to see this country divided along political lines so they can point fingers at each other while the rob the cookie jar when we are not looking.

Still no rain related mascot idea. I hate it when there’s no connection between the team name and the mascot.

jdub, cardinal is a type of tree. stanford actually makes sense

    • ukjaybrat
      11:45 am February 15, 2017 Permalink

actually, that was the way it was explained to me. but i can’t find anything supporting that… this is what i just found

“There is no official mascot at Stanford University. The “Tree,” which is a member of the Stanford Band, is representative of El Palo Alto, the Redwood tree which is the logo of the city of Palo Alto. Since Stanford University and Palo Alto are almost inextricably intertwined in interests and location, it is a natural outgrowth of this relationship”

    • J-Dub421

Yes, but they’re THE Cardinal, which just makes me think of the Catholic dudes in red robes who elect the pope.

J-Dub, you haven’t been to Alabama and seen all the elephants running around?
The RAIN mascot would have to be a storm cloud; but, they would have to make sure it didn’t look like something else. Hee Haw.

No, I don’t recall seeing elephants running around Alabama. I don’t think they are a native species to the US. 😉

At Tennessee and Kansas games as well as the sluggish performance against UGA can all be explained because the team was battling that sickness that went around. UCLA was early in the season as was Louisville (and on the road).

The only loss I am mad about is Florida, because even if it is on the road and even if everyone was coming off the sickness, 22 points is just BAD.

That being said, with only really two bad games (with no excuse) the other being LSU, this team is starting to hit every cylinder at the right time of year. I am excited to see what they can do in March.

Don’t get me started on the SEC referees…UT still shot 24 FT’s to our 12, and they were behind the whole game.

Someone in the press really needs to address the issue with Sacha. There has to be something going on that Cal is not telling us. No excuse for him to not get some clock last night, unless he is sick, injured, or sitting for disciplinary reasons. It’s starting to piss me off – Cal, you have a McD’s AA sitting on your bench, and he doesn’t look real happy about it. Don’t you think other coaches will use this to their advantage for recruiting? Even if his game needs work, he needs some experience because we need kids like him coming back for 2 or 3 years, NOT transferring to another school.

    • runningunnin.454
      10:41 am February 15, 2017 Permalink

That is a bad look when Coach’s son plays ahead of a 5* recruit.

    • WatchutalkinboutWillis
      11:00 am February 15, 2017 Permalink

I also find myself worrying about AA’s sitting on the bench and not getting any PT. I also worry about them getting recruited over. I probably wouldn’t worry about it if Wiltjer, Lee and Matthews hadn’t transferred. But it is a little concerning…

    • ukjaybrat
      11:14 am February 15, 2017 Permalink

it could be a problem of him just being assessed way too high. sometimes you get a bust. He is really thin for his position. Maybe he just needs to be more aggressive like wenyen. none of us really know. and we probably won’t. i don’t think he’s going to transfer. Hopefully a good offseason workout will get him prepared for a good run next year.

Let’s be honest, Brad playing last night was a Valentine’s Day gift from Cal to Ellen.

    • DelrayCat
      11:48 am February 15, 2017 Permalink

From what I have seen, he’s just not that good. In fact, he is considerably worse than Tai…and he too barely plays. Brad only gets mop up duty since the crowd likes it along with momma. Plus, given the potential lack of guards next year, Brad may actually play more than SKJ again.

A couple of commenters were saying last night that UT is a crap team, but…
UT beat Kansas State by 12, Kansas only beat K-State once by 3, and once by 2.
Not to say UT is Kansas; but, Kansas State is a decent team, and UT has some talent.

    • RealCatsFan
      10:54 am February 15, 2017 Permalink

UT has a lot of young talent – I think they start several freshmen and a soph. They will be a team to be reckoned with in a couple years, especially if Barnes can attract more talent.

Some other SEC teams will be on the rise – UF, TAMU, USC. I think Bama and UGA can also fall into that list. So far Auburn has been a bit of a disappointment under Pearl. Oh yeah, Arkansas might make a run in the next few years too.

If LSU gets smart and ditches Jones and hires a real coach, they might get back on track too.

Very sad. Yesterday I was at the drug store getting candy for Valentine’s Day. There was a man buying flowers, and I said, “Oh, for your wife”?
He said, “yeah, well, for her headstone”. I hate when I do that.
Best I could manage was that Joe Dimaggio put flowers on Marilyn Monroe’s grave every year for 30 years until he died.
