Laurel County man arrested for booby-trapped front porch

One man in Laurel County clearly does not get along with his neighbors.

Raymond Jackson, 56, has been arrested by the Laurel County Sheriff Department and charged with possession of a destructive device. The device? A knife-filled sheet of plywood, which authorities say was designed to swing downward.

The words ‘If this don’t kill you I will. Come on” are written on it. Here are some pictures, courtesy of the Laurel County Sheriff’s Department.

Jackson told authorities the booby trap was already set up when he moved in, and he simply didn’t know how to take it down safely. The sheriff’s department says its deputies arrived at Jackson’s home – located in London, Kentucky – after a complaint came in about a man, allegedly drunk, “waving a large knife at his neighbors, cursing at them and creating a disturbance,” according to a news release.

Jail records show Jackson is currently being detained in Laurel County Detention Center. His bond is set at $10,000.

Can you not do pretty much anything you want on your own property? The only way someone gets hurt by that crude “booby trap” is if they trespass. He’s probably more likely to trip it on himself.

Nope, As John Lennon said, “You Can’t Do That”. They will arrest you every time. What if some kid goes to the door selling cookies or something.

Emergency responders, process servers, someone looking for directions or needing help, or any number of innocent parties could be injured.

I cant see that being legal in any way. There are however certain laws that pertain to attached structures with roofs in regards to eminent domain….guess it would come down to a good lawyer ????

Why do they always live in mobile homes? Don’t mountain folk believe in houses?

Probably all they can afford. So is he poor because he is bat-shit crazy or bat-shit crazy because he is poor? That is the real question.
