Landon Young makes the Rivals 100

landon-young

Congratulations to future Cat Landon Young, who was named to the prestigious Rivals 100 this morning. The Lafayette offensive lineman was ranked 91st on the list, making him UK’s first Rivals 100 commit in TEN YEARS. The last UK player in the Rivals 100 was linebacker Micah Johnson, who was considered the 36th best player in the 2006 class.

Young committed to UK over two years ago, and despite interest from major programs like Auburn, Alabama, and Ohio State, has remained firm in his pledge to Mark Stoops and the Cats.

To fully appreciate what a big deal this is, check out some of the other schools in the Rivals 100. Pretty good company.

Looks pretty small for such a highly recruited OL

Yeah, 6’7 is so small… Plus this picture is old.

Stoops probably paid Rivals to put him on the list.

CardFan502–He probably did. We all know how morally corrupt the football coaches in this state can be. Vroom vroom.

Braylon Heard was #57 in 2010. Although he didn’t originally commit here, he did play here.

Landon was all of 15 in the picture used in the article on KSR. He just turned 18 and he is 6’7″ and weighs about 300 pounds. He has been as high as 305 recently. He gained about 15 pounds of muscle weight this summer. He is stronger than he has ever been and is getting stronger. By the time he gets to UK he could weigh 315 or so. Most of the recruiting services say he does not carry much bad weight and that most or all his weight is good weight. I just wanted to set the record straight. I have seen his weight listed at many different weights and just wanted to make sure everyone knows his current weight.

Landon’s dad: Any thoughts on UK’s chances with Jedrick Wills?

Really cannot tell about Jedric. He seems to have interest in Tennessee and Ky. His father likes KY quite a bit and his mother wants him to go where he best fits. He rarely says much about this. I think he is just enjoying the process and will likely wait till next year to announce his decision. That is just my opinion.
