Ware, a 6-foot-9, 215-pound power forward, chose the Wildcats back on September 12 over offers from Michigan, Ohio State, Miami, Providence, Georgetown, Louisville, and Oregon, among others.
“I want to thank my family, my friends, all the coaches that have helped me grow as a person and as a player,” he said during an announcement ceremony at his school. “This has been a tough decision, going to all these schools and meeting all of these coaches, building the relationships with all the coaches and assistant coaches. After spending time talking with my family and everybody that I trust and that is important to me, I’ve decided that I want to go to the University of Kentucky.”
Ranked as high as No. 31 (Rivals) and as low as No. 42 (ESPN) in his class, 247Sports gives him a Composite ranking of No. 32 overall.
As for Askew, a five-star point guard in the class of 2021, his father tells KSR that he will be taking his official visit to Kentucky starting tomorrow, as well.
In an interview with The Cats Pause, 247Sports recruiting insider Evan Daniels said he believes Kentucky has separated itself as the leader for the 6-foot-3 guard out of Santa Ana, CA.
“I think Kentucky is the leader,” he said. “Louisville has done a good job recruiting him, Arizona and Memphis will get him on campus and I think we’ll have a decision in the next six weeks or so, but I think Kentucky is in great position.”
