With Calipari out of the mix and Kevin Ollie getting a meeting soon, the Lakers will also consider another
successful college basketball coach to fill its coaching vacancy.
According to the L.A. Times, the Lake Show has added Roy Williams to the short list of candidates who may get an interview soon. Williams declined an interview for the job in 2004, but should have a little more interest now that his program isn’t what it was and the school is swimming in an academic scandal.
Furthermore, the Staples Center signed a 10-year deal with Coca-Cola since Williams turned down discussions with the Lakers in 2004. The current deal with Coke is through 2019, a huge draw for Daggum Roy.
