Earlier this week, John Calipari extended a scholarship offer to 2022 four-star center Kyle Filipowski. Unfortunately, Cal won’t be able to watch the big man play this weekend. The New York Times’ Billy Witz and Adam Zagoria are reporting that Filipowski is one of a growing number of players at the Peach Jam to test positive for COVID-19.

Players on at least five of the boys’ teams have tested positive for the virus, including four on the NY Rens, Filipowki’s squad. According to the article, Peach Jam officials required players and coaches to submit coronarvirus tests 72 hours before the event started and have been testing players daily; however, teams that play before 2 p.m. are tested in the afternoon, while teams that play after 2 p.m. are tested in the morning.

The boys’ teams have been at Riverview Park Activities Center in North Augusta since July 13, while the girls’ portion of the event started yesterday. Families, support personnel, and NBA scouts have been in the gym all week, and tomorrow, coaches are allowed in as the final evaluation period of the summer begins. John Calipari and his staff are expected to in attendance to check in on Kentucky’s targets, including Jalen Duren — whose decision is imminent — Dereck Lively II, Shaedon Sharpe, Jaden Bradley, Brandon Miller, Nick Smith Jr., DJ Wagner, and Emoni Bates.

Jack Pilgrim is on his way to North Augusta as we speak and will have more for you tomorrow morning.

I’m as conservative as they come but come on just get the vax already. Not political for me just common sense.

      1. Do we know he didn’t take the vaccination?

      2. There’s plenty of reasons for someone of his age to not do so if he hasn’t had it.

FYI the vaccine does not prevent getting covid.
Source: I have a vaccinated coworker who is out sick with covid.

For the record, I’m not against the vaccine at all. I just want people to know the facts instead of what the media implies with their jargon. Everyone has the right to take it or not. I’m just saying it does not prevent someone from getting it.

I wouldn’t take it for anything period. It may come back to bite me but I’ll take my chances. Maybe after 5-10 years once we know that there isn’t going to be any long term effects then I might consider it.

No way in hell I’ll ever take it, so anyone who comes knocking on my door peddling the experimental shot is wasting their time.

If enough people don’t get the vaccine, maybe KRS won’t have a comments section any more.
