KY Senator blames Matt Jones for failed bill, says step out from behind the mic

If you listened to last Friday’s edition of the Kentucky Sports Radio radio show, you heard the four of us break down, and give our opinions on, a bill being pushed around in Frankfort. (Ryan Lemond nailed his opinion of it, too.)

The bill — Senate Bill 89, it was called — died a very expected death when Sen. Stephen Meredith pulled his proposal after he received threats on social media, what he called “our modern day version of the Salem witch trials.”

He then blamed our own Matt Jones and a Courier-Journal political cartoonist, Marc Murphy, for the reason the bill failed. After that, Sen. Meredith made some bizarre comments about them questioning his love for America and the Constitution, and I’m pretty sure he challenged them to a duel.

“If you’re man enough to step out from behind your microphone and keyboard,” he said, “we’ll meet personally about this, and I’ll convey to you how much I love this country, and it will be a lesson you will not forget.”

Tune in to the hear the shout out to Matt around the 23:20 mark:

You can listen to Matt’s reaction to Sen. Meredith’s comments in the first hour of today’s show:

And this is what Sen. Meredith’s challenge reminds me of:

Swear to god the people that run this site get off on tattle telling. Matt, you talk you’re fair share of talk and you’re a known habitual line stepper.

Why does this site feel the need to call these people out and weaponize the hardcores to reach out to anyone that dear disagree or call out KSR.

Pathetic really, and this is from a long time follower.

If I understand this law correctly, it would give any police officer in Kentucky the right to detain you (not arrest you) just because you simply refuse to identify yourself, handover ID, and/or explain the reason you’re in a specific place? What a silly idea. To me, thus just seems like the first step in police being able to arrest you for crimes you haven’t committed “yet”. Very dangerous slope to be on. I’m far from some ACAB person, but a badge does not give someone complete and total authority. This would be a civil rights nightmare.

Thank you, Matt, and all the people who kept this bill from going any further. The police have enough power as is, keeping our rights to keep police in check is critical in today’s America.

So if I understand this politician correctly, in his story about the man with an AR15 at a festival, was doing nothing wrong.

There is no other State or Commonwealth in America that has fewer laws concerning gun ownership than Kentucky.

If he was worried about a stranger with an AR15, in a public place during a public event, then get off your ass and write legislation that prohibits such activity, giving the police every right to stop him or remove him.

But until a law is broken, do not give the police extended power to detain on a whim. That, is crazy.

    Don’t they call this Citizenship?

The Senator is a Representative of THE PEOPLE. He’s not Lord and Master of the people.

What a snowflake. I mean his speech was dripping with victimhood instead of taking a little time to maybe.. just MAYBE… consider why he was getting such a response. “Mah in-TEG-ra-tee”. Dude you wanted to detain people for no reason. I’m guessing you have little. And after threatening people to a duel “lest you have more honor” makes me think I’m right even more.

You guys just can’t leave things alone, you like to play politics but don’t like it when someone goes after you like you do on your show. You guys tend to be a$$ holes toward anyone who has a different opinion than yours, you have your little puppet Ryan to say yes all the time and feed your ego. Just drop the politics, you could have done this without actually mentioning the author of the bill, that way he would not have received tons of hate mail from the peanut gallery.

When a politician tries to piss on the Constitution they deserve to be called out by name in public. That’s how a functioning democracy works.

when someone goes after them, KSR doesn’t back down. And you’re mad about that. Interesting. Did you graduate in 45? something tells me you are that old. You the senator’s dad? LOL

What is wrong with people in the state of KY? It’s not enough they continue to send Mitch McConnell to DC every six years or elect someone like Matt Bevin to be Governor, but this guy?

Here’s a good idea – why not simply have everyone’s SS# tattooed on their forehead to make it easier to keep up with people. Or what about this – maybe each county appoints someone to create a list of people who are “agitators.” And maybe create a program where people can be rewarded for turning in people who are acting “suspiciously.” For example, where I live a group of people gather every Sunday morning in a large building – who knows what they are planning, but it sure seems suspicious to me!

Oh, and Trinity45, this is comic gold – “You guys tend to be a$$ holes toward anyone who has a different opinion than yours.” Tonight when you are snuggled up to Sean Hannity, see how much what you wrote describes him.

Since I can’t reply to Matts hit men, I will say again Matt likes to play politics, don’t give a crap about what the Senator’s bill was, the fact that Matt personally called him out and now acts hurt because the Senator used the only platform he has, since he does not have a radio program to call out Matt and his cronies. I just love how you all come running to save poor old Matt who is making thousands off of this and everything else. Just blindly following him since your brains cannot allow you to think for yourself. All Matt had to do was leave his name out of this and then all those hate email and text would not have been sent. But some people love to put people down and make fun of others, just like the mindless idiots that are attacking people on this site.

All you right wing nut jobs are the same, you cry whenever someone doesn’t share your political opinion and shout about why people like Matt should ‘stick to sports,’ while simultaneously politicizing every aspect of life. Keep crying Francis, because 1945 isn’t coming back.
