Thursday’s edition of Kentucky Sports Radio radio will be coming to you live from John Hardin High School in Elizabethtown, Ky for Matt Elam’s long-awaited announcement. Matt (Jones) and I will be in the John Hardin library for the show and all the festivities surrounding Elam’s big moment, when he decides between the University of Kentucky and the University of Alabama.

You guys are over hyping this guy like you did the freshman basketball team this year. If we get him good but if we don’t its not a big a deal as you guys are trying to make it.40 and 0, greatest class in history, this guys is a must get, all wrong , don’t over hype everything then the fans wont be so let down.

I just like the fact he is doing this in the state now. IF he was gonna pick Bama– the All-American game would have been the time to do it. There he was only surrounded by a couple of UK guys. Now he is back at his school- where he is close to friends, family, classmates and the to the pressure from his “could-be future” teammates as well as hords of local media that will want answers. Seems to me- thats the perfect setup to announce for UK.

Matt Elam, if you read this, think about how wild and crazy that place I going to be if you pick UK and how disappointed everyone will be if you pick Alabama. If you are going to pick ‘bama, GO to ‘bama and announce it, don’t announce it here. We all know you can go to ‘bama, but keep in mind, you can PLAY at UK!

I hope we get our guy, no matter what or where he gos, he will be in the NFL soon. Go with his heart and pick the cats! He won’t get the love down there, that he will get here. Greenbacks will be there…

    • NFL???
      8:25 pm January 27, 2014 Permalink

Have you see this guy play? My gosh he has a LONG way to go before he is even sniffed by an NFL team. Marcell Dareus, Ndamukong Suh, BJ Raji and even Elvis Dumervil for crying out loud are NFL talent. Elam can’t even sniff their nut cup. I’m sure Matt or Drew would do it though while they had it on. He bombed so bad in San Antonio that he was dropped from a 5* to a 3* because he showed us that great “5*” lazy streak and titty tackling ability. Rankings and paper stats (height, weight, etc.) are what a lot of teams look at when drafting their big board to target guys to play. This man screams “ME, ME, ME.” You have to want this and all he is worried about are his retweets, how much attention he grabs, who kisses his rear and how much stuff can be put on the net or in the papers so his mom can put it in his scrap book. Do us all a favor and go play at Florida A&M or get a cosmetology license.

As a fanbase can we please drop the asinine argument that Elam will be a star here versus just another player at Bama? Nick Saban wouldn’t spend nearly the amount of time he has personally during the process for what he thinks will be “just another player”.

Agreed, can’t stand those fraud moron fans. Sick of the “at Bama you’re just another guy and will be forgotten, where at UK you will be a hero and remembered forever.” So, by their logic, the same thing MUST be true for basketball recruits from other states with inferior programs, picking their home state’s program over Kentucky and Cal. I mean, you gotta remain consistent, right? Yeah…a 5-star basketball recruit from Louisiana should pick LSU over Kentucky because at Kentucky “he’ll be forgotten and just be another guy who plaid only one year.” Frauds! Frauds!

    • Do whut?
      4:43 pm January 27, 2014 Permalink

And yes I realize he is a local boy here but Bama fans have a way of making football players feel welcome. See the out of state guys who play basketball here for merely one season. I noticed they’re still pretty well liked by locals.

Bama can wait on him and try to get him into SEC shape, or at least take the chance they can get his lazy self to work. They have talent in place and don’t need contributions right away so Saban is after him for that reason, he may never see the field there. Why not get a guy on team that could produce if he works at it, they are not losing anything. He is not ready in that condition to play MAC ball.

Have a feeling it’s going to be so loud in that library we won’t wear much & knowing KSR luck the equipment won’t work & Jurich will have the weather emergency tone go off. Should be interesting in that library if he picks Alabama.

This kid should be celebrated regardless of who he picks… point blank period. He has gone about this recruitment of great magnitude with great class and he has put up with a lot of fans that could care less about him as a person. If he picks Bama I will be looking for him to shine in every game, and if he picks the Cayts we will getting a boost in talent, hype, and publicity… win/win.

Silly to try to compare football recruiting scenario to basketball recruiting…. way less players to keep track of with the round ball. To say he would be just as loved at Alabama as a five star basketball recruit from another state at Kentucky would be a null comparison IMO.

    • Todd
      4:57 pm January 27, 2014 Permalink

But how do those morons who make the statements that he wouldn’t be loved at Bama, know that to be the case? They don’t. I’m not a Bama fan, but looking at them from a far, they have the most passionate fans in college football, so one would think that the fans support and respect all of their players.

The girls that they fixed the players at Alabama this year had a social disease, root rot and that is why all of the recruits are bailing out of.Bama is sinking and sinking fast. Go Cats!

    • Jeff
      5:00 pm January 27, 2014 Permalink

Lol, you’re clueless. They have the #1 class in the country and will likely add 2 more 5-star recruits. Yeah…they’re really sinking fast. Yeah, having a 4-star corner flip to Auburn and then picking up a5-star who is the #1 ranked player on Rivals (Dashawn Hand), is really indicative of Bama “sinking, and sinking fast.” They’re still going to have the #1 class, and this has a chance to be the best class on paper that Saban has ever recruited.

    • Mark
      5:04 pm January 27, 2014 Permalink

HAHAHA! Is this Richie kid for real? Bama and Saban will have the #1 recruiting class AGAIN. As of right now, their class makes our class, which is very good, look like a bunch of stiffs. And that’s before they even get Marlon Humphrey (5-star) and either Rashaan Evans (5-star) or Malachi Dupre (5-star), the latter appears to be a package deal with Humphrey, who is as close to a “lock” as one can get, a Bama lock that is.

Elam is just an overweight POS in my book… I am sick of hearing about this attention hoarding kid. Its ridiculous how much publicity kids get these days. He has proven nothing and is being treated like a royalty in KY. If he went to Bama he wouldn’t see the field and he will be a HUGE (literally) bust here. I hope he proves me wrong but this kid is all size and NO talent!!

Someone at John Hardin may know the answer to this:
Is there a reason it’s in the library? Seems to me you’d do something like this in the gym for the whole school or at least senior class to see. So my idiotic theory is that it’s Bama and they did it in a small space to keep some huge angry overreaction from happening with a large amount of students in a gym and media present.
How awful would it be if he announces Alabama and the whe student body boos? They wouldn’t let that happen.

That’s my worthless opinion…although I do make a living planning events and staging press conferences

Hope I’m wrong. Be a hero.

Hope we get this kid, but it does seem like he likes the drama. No matter where he goes, it’s good to see a local kid get some hype. If Bama wants him, it’s a good sign he has major talent. I’d love to see him in blue Thursday and for the next few years.

Well hello trolls… nice of you visit again.

Anyway, I have felt confident that we would get Elam up until now. Pretty sure he is Bama bound with announcing on a much smaller venue (library). Drew Barker announced in his school gym with an open invitation to all. Big difference. With that being said, I wish Matt luck at Bama and have to give him hats off for the ride he has taken us on. We fell for it. I do hope he is successful in his future endeavors.

He can enjoy all the attention now. Regardless if he is at UK or not, this kid needs a red shirt. He is overweight and there are O linemen stronger than him already. He has not proven anything yet just like Barker, Hortel etc…let’s worry about the players we have instead of those straddling the fence. If he ones great, if not lets support the ones that bleeding blue.
