Thanks to RCF for the Eagles video Friday; hard to find videos of early live performances, I guess due to internal strife in the band. I found this one featuring the original members before Don Felder joined the band. BTW, the a cappella snippet at 22:50 is from the British folk song, “Silver Dagger”. Joan Baez recorded that on her 1960 debut album.

That Eagles video was awesome! Here is another one with Linda Rondstadt singing “Silver Threads & Golden Needles” with them:

And yes, I had a crush on her like virtually everybody else.

And I forgot to say that Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert was one of the best shows ever. I had forgotten that VH1 reran it back in the 90s. I wish I had it on DVD. If it was streaming out there somewhere I would be tempted to pony up for a pay streaming service for the first time.

Wow, another great find RG! I have to make time to watch that one and RCFs in toto. Who was in Don Felder’s place before he joined?

I know that’s a newer video, but I’m still surprised it doesn’t have more views. It’s been up for a few months. It also has 0 comments.

Yep, the Eagles first gig was as the backup band for Ronstadt. Here is a young actress/singer, Ebony Buckle, singing the haunting song, “Silver Dagger” on the British TV drama “Inspector Gently”. Lovely girl, lovely song. The song is a takeoff of the Romeo and Juliet theme; you can guess what the silver dagger is for.

Felder didn’t replace anyone; he was added as a 5th member to give the band a more rock sound, rather than Bernie Leadon’s bluegrass sound. As sad as I was when Leadon left, I was really bummed when Randy Meisner left.

Funny Eagles story; turns out Frey and Henley were pretty liberal, and they decided to have a concert, and donate the money to Senator Cranston’s reelection campaign. Felder wasn’t too happy about that.
When Cranston went down the line thanking each personally, Felder said, “you’re welcome…I GUESS”. Uh oh, brouhaha.

The Auburn fans I know personally are very excited about Bo Nix. I don’t get the infatuation with him…he’s a solid QB, but you’d think he’d be a top Heisman candidate by the way they act.

I think it’s fine to be cautiously optimistic about this game. But to confident about it is kind of the same thing as delusional because there are just so many unknowns right now. Terry hasn’t had to go up against guys who are trying to tackle him since about a year ago.

Lots of sad news over the weekend. RBG was an American icon, IMO, whether you agree with her politics or not. Great lady, and an example that we can all get along.

The two brothers involved in the ATV accident was very sad. Prayers to their family.

Finally, three men were shot dead here in Louisville while sitting on the patio of a local bar & grille. Total stranger, nothing was said, just walked up and started shooting. One of the young men was 24, and I went to grade school and HS with his father. I just can’t imagine what he is going through.

Somehow, we need to make this all stop, but I don’t know an easy solution. Not everyone will agree with me, but we need to follow the example of JC and just be kind to our fellow man and put others ahead of us. That has to start at the very top and filter down, and also start with each one of us and filter up. Sad times, but I am hopeful that eventually we will get out of them, like we did in the 70’s.

Saw someone post on FB that the shooter had a Breonna Taylor shirt on, but have not seen it confirmed.

It’s going to get really bad this week when the grand jury decision is released. They are going to exonerate the cops, and it’s going to get ugly. They have the courthouse shut down and boarded up in preparation.

It’s not bad out where I live, but I wouldn’t feel real comfortable in parts of Louisville proper, even in daylight. And that’s sad.
