No Texas Roadhouse in the tourney is total blasphemy. I could care less who wins with this major screw-up.

Interesting story about the LSU DB wanting to transfer at this late date; don’t know that he can get a waiver this late.
Obviously he could play here immediately; but, there’s something here I can’t put my finger on. Several of the schools he’s considering have already started classes. And I didn’t see a reason for the transfer.
He had offers out of hs from ‘Bama and Clemson; yet, he’s considering Grambling State? They’re FCS.
He was suspended for LSU’s Fiesta Bowl last year; don’t know about this.

I didn’t realize he was trying to transfer and play this year. Hard to see the NCAA agreeing to that at this point. I’m sure the coaching staff would check into any potential issues though.

We still haven’t heard about Xavier Peters yet have we? Or did I miss something?

He may be considering Grambling because they’ve always let guys play right away if they transfer down a division. Troy used to get a good number of the guys that left Bama & Auburn when they (Troy State back then) were 1AA.

You’re right though. I wonder if there is baggage that we don’t want.

I don’t imagine he would be cleared in time to play this year. But I don’t really see a downside to bringing him in as a practice player until next year.

Ha ha BTI’s post today is actually interesting he dug up the first of many Matt preseason predictions that didn’t pan out:

So he’s become KSR’s “Frozen Cold Takes”, or whatever that Twitter account is called. It’s the one that goes back and posts hot take tweets/articles/videos that were dead wrong.

Just seeing the names mentioned in that post – Porter, Bernard Cote, Brandon Stockton – makes you realize the depths we had fallen to at the end of the Tubby era. And to think some folks thing those days were better. Sigh.

The Food Bracket is getting old, and is boring. Louisville site’s least cool person of the year is more interesting; and it really blows up.
This year’s contestants included the NCAA (LOL) and Matt Bevin.
Finals were Bobby Petrino and The Duke Comeback; guess who won.

RCF, I saw the video yesterday after Googling it (I still couldn’t find it using their site). Whichever one was your daughter, they both did great and they both obviously love their coach! Well done.

Thanks cg! Yes, we are very proud of all the young ladies on this team. They have ten seniors on the varsity roster, and most of them have been playing together on club teams for years. Very tight group, and we are hoping they will have an awesome season. They have made it to the district finals 5 years in a row – and lost to arch rival North Oldham each time. We are hoping that this will be a year to break that streak! Tough schedule coming up, with a match at perennial Indiana power Providence next week. I’m not really expecting us to win that one (we aren’t Assumption!), but hopeful that we will compete.

It’s going to be very sad when this season comes to an end. These kids (and their parents) have become very tight with each other.

I think I know which is your daughter, but to be sure I would have to go back and find that video where we see you for .25 seconds driving by in your Pony car and see which one you look like. Haha.

Seriously, they are both well spoken, and seem like nice young ladies, and they are both beautiful (no creeper).

Prayers for the coach and her family and friends and team.

Well, don’t want to completely spill the beans, but Sequoia is out middle hitter, and probably the biggest offensive threat on the team. Girl’s got bounce! She has a division I scholly waiting for her, and she’s just a junior. We raise libero’s in our household. 🙂

And sincere thanks for your prayers. Coach Ryan is working hard and making amazing progress. GBS often takes months or even years to recover from. She is already starting to walk flights of stairs. She is absolutely kicking GBS’s arse! Great example for the young ladies on this team.

I like the Toledo matchup; they’re good. I saw a NFL preseason game the other day, and one team had a rookie from there, and he was really good. Don’t remember his name though.
Don’t want any real cupcakes, and don’t want a P5 team for the first game.

    • ClutchCargo
      10:38 am August 22, 2019 Permalink

Yeah, I see nothing wrong with starting with a team like Toledo. We should win, but they’re good enough to keep our attention. Hopefully. I just wish it wasn’t a noon kickoff.

Word! It’s weird how some fans can be one extreme and some the other. I’ve been guilty before I’m sure. But you have the ones that are ALWAYS negative, and then you have the ones calling for us to play a much tougher out of conference schedule. Hello? Let’s win 10 games at least a couple more times then get back to me. Some of those guys want us to schedule Clemson, Oklahoma, and Ohio State in the same year I guess.

I DON’T WANT TO PLAY INDIANA IN FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL! Hell with IU and their heathen fans…what are the guys smoking?

    • ClutchCargo
      10:40 am August 22, 2019 Permalink

The IU series were fun through about the 90’s. That was quite a while ago, and they have mostly sucked at both sports since then. At this point, they aren’t any better than the cupcakes people want to complain about.

    • J-Dub421
      11:35 am August 22, 2019 Permalink

What CC said. IU is bad in football and basketball, and there is no benefit to playing them in either sport.

I support the coal miners; in the ’20’s and ’30’s the coal companies would send goons with automatic weapons to intimidate the miners. The miners had .22’s and squirrel guns, and wore red bandanas around their necks to identify each other at night…hence the term, redneck. So the term, in my book, is a compliment.

    • RealCatsFan
      11:32 am August 22, 2019 Permalink

I always thought “redneck” came from the folks who worked out in the fields and happened to get a lot of sun on the backs of their necks.

I always thought that the name “Wildcats” came from the coal miners who stood up to the owners, hence the term “wildcat strike”. But I’m probably wrong.

    • J-Dub421
      11:38 am August 22, 2019 Permalink

Our Wildcats nickname comes from football. Waaaayyyyy back, we played a game and the announcer said our team “fought like Wildcats” and the name stuck.

    • runningunnin.454
      11:51 am August 22, 2019 Permalink

Yep, the Wildcats name came after a victory over Illinois in 1909. The score was 6-2.
