I’m going to try to not cry today.

Same. Little mist doesn’t count though, right?

I’ll allow it. (Because I’m bound to tear up at some point too.)

Matt loves to talk about Ryan’s grief, and now Drew’s, etc. as if it’s strangely remarkable instead of personal.

I think Matt’s trying to distract himself from his own grief.

I just want him to let Ryan be. Sheesh.

Trying to micromanage someone else’s emotions is doing too much. Someone telling me how I should feel about something is pretty high on the list of things that piss me off.

My listening has been very spotty this week. What did Matt say?

    • Realme
      11:41 am July 11, 2019 Permalink

He just described how emotional Ryan was at the funeral, then Drew, then Eli Manning.

I’m not listening today, so my comment about doesn’t make much sense in that context. I get what you’re saying Realme. There is no commentary needed for how someone is grieving.

I feel bad for Ryan above all the guys. It is obvious that this has really hit him hard. God bless him.

Yesterday was the 16th anniversary of my older brother’s passing from complications from surgery to remove a brain tumor. I actually got almost all the way through the day before I realized what the date was. As time passes on a great loss, the pain never completely goes away, but the busyness of everyday life can sometimes shroud it. Also, the sadness is gradually replaced by fond memories, but it still hurts when you hit a milestone – graduations, births, weddings, etc. – and realize that your loved one is not standing next to you to see it in person.

That sucks. I’m sorry for your loss.

Like I said, time can be a salve to those wounds. But it’s funny how something small can make it all come rushing back. That Counting Crows song that STD played a snippet from was popular back then, and it kind of defined a tough time of my life. Every time I hear it everything comes rushing back.

And you can absolutely mark me down for that $22 donation to Jared’s fund. Done!

Yeah, I’m going to slide over to donate at the long 11:00am break.

I was one of the first 2 donors! I did 22.00 and they did 222.00. Helps that I shop online so much I can just type in my cc info without taking it out off my wallet, lol.

I just hate shopping in person, really. And if I can order food that way instead of standing in line at a register, I do that.

Yes Clutch! And Amazon and Chewy.

Clutch, I haven’t done the clicklist yet – sounds like it’s pretty convenient.

    • J-Dub421
      10:55 am July 11, 2019 Permalink

I order a lot of stuff online, but won’t do clicklist. I am super picky about my produce and don’t trust someone else to choose for me.

    • ClutchCargo
      10:59 am July 11, 2019 Permalink

There is an adjustment like anything else. Eventually it becomes “crap, I have to go pick up and put away groceries.” 🙂 And yes, I’m a stickler when it comes to produce and meat, so I avoid those things if I’m the one ordering. Go inside to get those things and let them gather up the rest.

Like a lot of folks, I lament it whenever I see brick and mortar stores in so much trouble, but at the same time, I’ve ordered some stuff for our cars that were way cheaper than anywhere else.

When we bought the 2003 LeSabre I drive, it had only 1 key and no remotes. On Amazon I got 2 remotes for like 20 or 30 bucks or so as opposed to hundreds. I did have to pay a locksmith $25 to sync them with the car (there are YouTube vids for some car models, but I couldn’t find anything for mine). Also, I ordered an extra key for 10 bucks. I did have to pay a locksmith to cut it (about 5 or 10 bucks), but there were instructions with it for activating it. Even Walmart wants like $90 for those.

Most recently, I looked up a YouTube video on how to replace our 2 rear gate/door piston type lifters for our van (they were totally shot and wouldn’t hold the door up at all). I ordered them from Amazon for $17 for both. Some at the parts store are $30 each.

cg, I manage an online store, so I see both sides of the coin. The brick and mortar stores have a lot more fixed costs to consider. A lot of online stores these days simply have the products drop-shipped, so they can literally run the store from their phone without even needing any inventory space. But for some products I want to see and touch them before I buy them.

One thing that I always thought was a bit dirty and underhanded are people who will go to a brick and mortar to have someone show them the product (say for instance, shoes), and then order them from an online vendor. You are just stabbing the brick and mortar store in the back when you do that. We occasionally have people call us wanting to order something from us that they tried on at their local store, and I always tell them to buy that first one from them since they worked with them – and then come back to me when they are ready for a replacement.

Sometimes I dream of having the kind of retirement that Coach Brooks is living. 🙂

My parents are living that kind of retirement. They putter around the house, go to the gym, go out to eat with their friends all the time, and take lots of cruises and other vacations to fabulous places.

J-Dub, my folks lived it pretty well too, up until the time that they got to their mid 80’s and their health started to fail. I feel a little sorry for my mom now – I think she is just waiting for her time to be up so she can see dad again. 🙁

TW will be fine. He cut way down on turnovers in the back half of last season. People continue to blow his turnovers out of proportion.
