Close game down the stretch; Auburn with 16 FT’s to UK’s 4 in the last 6 minutes; Auburn at the line in 8 of their last 12 possessions . UK with 2 players fouling out, 3 players with 4 fouls compared to Auburn’s one player with 4 fouls.
Name any team in the country that could overcome that? I watch a lot of ball, and I haven’t seen one. There was no way we were leaving with a W.

Our guys should have played better, but they also should have been allowed to actually play by the refs. Even a former head of officials admitted that it was bad. Write that one off, we were due to “take one on the chin” to quote Leach.

In the first half, I was shocked to see us not get called for those phantom fouls that you expect on the road. But the refs regrouped and brought their A game in the second half. No reason to give up so many offensive rebounds, though. I don’t care how many fouls you get called for, gotta go get the ball. Usually the more aggressive team gets the calls anyway.

They just called another foul, Auburn is back at the line….

It seems like the refs call the game in the first half differently than they do the second. It seemed they were giving us a fair shake in the first half so I just knew they were going to stick it to us in the second.

I know it’s been said a lot of times already, but college basketball is just fugly right now. I literally have zero interest in watching any non-UK games these days. And even the UK games, I’m probably DVRing it and catching it later, unless it’s at a normal game time and I’m at home to watch it live.

I was at a tournament in Indy, so didn’t get to see the game aside from about the last 5 minutes when we went to dinner afterwards. Thought about watching it just to see how bad it was, but on second thought – nope, I have better things to do with my time. Mrs RCF was at home watching and she told me how bad it was.

And yeah, certain players didn’t bring it, but if you have to worry about getting a foul called on you if you breathe on someone, I can certainly see how it would be tough to get in the flow.

I assume you’re referring to the Super Bowl. I was for the Chiefs only because the Niners have 2 rings that the Bengals were within a fingernail of getting. The fact that Kyle Shanahan called such stupid plays to cost the Falcons a SB added to it also.

I didn’t get to watch the game on Sat. because we were out to dinner for a friend’s birthday. (I set the game to record, but it didn’t. Stupid DVR.) Either way, it must be nice to have the refs just hand you the game via 20 more free throws.

I forgot to watch until halftime, and then right before I caught up with real time, the internet blinked out. Came right back but Youtube TV decided to freeze up for over 10 minutes. I was so mad. There’s no way to force it to reset on my tv. By the time I was actually seeing it I just knew it was a loss already.

If you shoot 44 FT’s, you have no complaints. They should stick to football; Auburn’s best basketball days are in the past with Person, Barkley, and Stan Pietkiewicz. The ncaa hammer will fall, and Pearl will be done.

I like Bruce Pearl as an ESPN talking head, but I want no part of him as coach at UK. People try to pin vacated wins at UMass and Memphis on Cal (even though the NCAA went out of their way to say he was not directly implicated), but Brucie has had severe ethical and NCAA legal issues pretty much everywhere he has been. He’s a great hype man, for programs who need that to get pumped up. We’re not that kind of program, though.

Speaking of Superbowls, I sure hope this damned stretch of road games as Everybody’s Superbowl is over for a while. I would say that I am looking forward to Auburn coming to Rupp so the tables will be turned in regards to the officiating, but we know they will still screw us at home.

Pearl’s almost as old as Cal isn’t he? If that was not the case that would be one thing.

Eeyore sincerely believes Cal cares more about the draft than winning, and that players play bad because they are trying to impress scouts…

And speaking of Pearl, why was he so angry about all the fouls that were going against us. 5 fouls in a row on us, he pitches a fit, over and over. And tries to get kicked out (copycat).

I’m with you. I tend to believe the rumors that his dad is calling the shots, because Whitney didn’t appear to have a bad attitude at all, right up until the time he announced he was leaving. But if coming to UK is the first step in preparing for your career, it’s time to start being your own man. If he had just hung in there until he started to figure it out instead of bailing, he could have been a difference maker for this team.

Dakich is full of himself and a troll at times, but he knows his stuff and tells it like it is most of the time, and I respect that. He called out the refs in the Auburn game.
