I have a really hard time caring about Valentines day at 43. Is that sad? I just want to spend time with Mr. Realme, but we would do that anyways.

    • ClutchCargo
      10:07 am February 14, 2020 Permalink

Not sad at all, imho. Mrs. CC actually said to me “let’s not waste money on cards and stuff this year.” Um… okay!

      But, but, but…Candy.

    • ClutchCargo

Candy just ends up getting thrown away after it sits around forever, in our house.

We went out with the kids for a nice family dinner last night.

    • Realme

You can also buy candy anyways, RG! Clutch it took years for my husband to believe me that I didn’t need him to blow money on flowers.

    • ClutchCargo

It almost feels like a setup, to test me or something. But yeah, she really means it!

    • runningunnin.454
      10:13 am February 14, 2020 Permalink

Really? Candy has a short life span at our house.
BTW, I have a box full of Valentine cards that my Mom received from her classmates in the ’30s. They’re all hand made, and quite beautiful.

    • Realme
      10:14 am February 14, 2020 Permalink

I wish I had the power to leave candy alone until it gets old and needs to be thrown away.

    • Realme
      10:15 am February 14, 2020 Permalink

Did you guys have the thing in elementary school where everyone decorated a shoe box and made valentines for everyone? Nowadays I think they just buy them. Lame!

    • chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door
      10:18 am February 14, 2020 Permalink

We also did the thing where you cut a paper plate in half and stapled one half to a whole one. The concave sides were to face one another so as to make a pocket to accommodate the Valentine cards from classmates.

I remember once telling my mom: “We have to make them for everyone but that girl is mean to me.” “Then don’t give her one!”

    • ClutchCargo
      10:18 am February 14, 2020 Permalink

Yep. But even then, I think a lot of them were the store-bought kind. And maybe even the ones that you cut out of a sheet of paper.

In retrospect that may not have been the best lesson (not criticizing Mom!”). It doesn’t hurt to extend an olive branch, and it may even melt a heart, kind of like the choo-choo melting Evil Warlock’s heart and the hug melting Jack Frost’s heart.

My hubby sent me flowers. I love flowers and this is one of maybe 2 days in a year that I get flowers, so I’ll take them! I got him a heart shaped box of Reese’s cups (his favorite) and some Four Roses bourbon. (So I could joke that I bought him flowers too. I am that nerd.) Tonight we’re going out for tacos.

Let’s just match Michigan State’s offer again. Vince is worth it. What good is all that SEC money if we don’t spend it on the important things?

    • J-Dub421

Another reason Vince should stay at UK: I have a strong suspicion that Mich State is about to go on probation. Their coach resigned. He wasn’t fired. He isn’t leaving for another job. Something is up. Also a former staffer is suing for wrongful termination and alleging recruiting violations.

That would be strange for them to suddenly stop supporting it after they just released a new version of it. I love it. Using it right now on my phone. Zoom right down to the comments and no ads! (Hope KSR isn’t reading the comments, would like to keep it a secret. )

I had to switch to Edge to be able to reply correctly again.

    • chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door
      10:39 am February 14, 2020 Permalink

Realme, that has to be the old Edge. The brand new Edge is a totally different browser. It’s built on Chromium, which is open source and it’s what Google Chrome is built on.

I’ve already forgotten his screen name, but someone who used to come in here said Edge (the old one) was basically just an update of IE, or built on the same engine (whatever that means). The Chromium engine is different. I guess it’s like cell phones. You have 2, and they both phones, but one is Android and the other is iOS.

    • Realme
      10:47 am February 14, 2020 Permalink

It would definitely not surprise me if the person I was talking to didn’t know what they were talking about. They were using my machine to google how to solve the problem I was having at the time, lol.

      Pre-David Foster Chicago was awesome.

Shows how old I am, I don’t even know who David Foster is.

He was the producer who took over and they took on a more easy listening, radio-friendly style. I’m sure Terry Kath’s passing had a lot to do with that as well.

      Me either; rip Terry Kath.

Yeah, I have heard of pre Peter Cetera Chicago, but not David Foster.

      Terry Kath’s death was heartbreaking.

Ok, after a little research I now realize that Cetera was with the band from the beginning.

Peter Cetera was with the band from near the very beginning. Dude plays a mean bass.

      Terry
      Thank you for the talk,
you know you really eased my mind
I was troubled by the shapes
      of things to come.
      Peter
      Well, if you had my
      outlook your feelings would be
      numb, you’d always think
      that everything was fine

Yes Peter was always in the band, but Terry did most of the lead vocals with Peter singing lead occasionally, Dialogue Part I is classic.

Yep, their early stuff is the best. I also like Blood Sweat and Tears from that era.

Always thought Terry’s voice was similar to David Clayton-Thomas’, gritty and soulful.

Can’t believe Ryan didn’t blurt out Dick Trickle when Matt asked him about Daytona 500 drivers.

So a dude was known as “Sliced Bread”? I guess “Shake n Bake” was taken.

I will probably watch the start of the race and the first 20 laps or so with the surround sound turned up because I’m a motorhead. But I no longer have the time or the attention span to watch the whole thing like I used to.

The idea of a contact lens shrinking to reshape your cornea doesn’t sound appealing to me.

My brother had that as a treatment for a condition that was making him lose his vision. Very painful and ultimately didn’t work (something else did).

Probably keratoconus; a cornea transplant will work.

Every time I think I want to get Lasik, I chicken out when I read the horror stories of eye procedures gone wrong.

Clutch, that’s why you only do one eye at a time.

That is his condition RG. He lives in Romania and had a non FDA approved procedure called corneal cross linking (I think). It at least got him seeing better in one eye. Clutch, my brother was the 1 in 10,000 case of Lasik causing him to almost go blind 10 years later.

Yeah, that’s definitely how I would do it. But still. It would be nice to not have to deal with contacts or glasses, but they get the job done.

Robert Morris was not an upset loss. No one wanted to play, and no one tried to win.

It’s too bad that Memorial wasn’t available the NIT year, because that actually would have been kind of neat to see our BB team playing in there. I continue to maintain that it would be awesome to have a charity game in there.

Mrs RCF and her sisters make their yearly pilgrimage to bake in the heat and drink overpriced warm beer. I went the year Stapleton was there. I usually take the boat out and drink my own cold cheap beer. I have seen Cage the Elephant several times, and I have never heard of most of the other bands.

Most of those bands could be completely made up just for this festival and I would never know the difference. They might actually be great, but I’m not buying a ticket to find out.
