KSR Movie Madness: Field cut in half, updated bracket

We trimmed 32 of the 64 movies in KSR Movie Madness on this morning’s show as the action moved to the second round. We will be back at it again on tomorrow’s show to (hopefully) complete the tournament and name our winner.

Here’s a look at the updated bracket through one round:

Print it and tune in to tomorrow’s show.

I think I agree with all these except A Few Good Men is > Boogie Nights. Silence of the Lambs and Scarfsce made for a powerful first round matchup too though.

Unforgiven is arguably one of the four or five best films in this whole bracket. How does it lose to a summer popcorn movie (granted, a summer popcorn movie with a great movie-stealing performance by Lou Gossett, Jr.)? I guess that’s the equivalent of a 15 taking down a 2…

Did John Higgins ref the Fargo over Braveheart game?

Nah, they called Steve Zahn on the radio show today and he was the tie breaker and voted for Fargo. But he did say Braveheart is one of those movies when it’s on TV you will always watch it. Personally, while Fargo is a great movie, Braveheart is in a league of its own. It still ranks as my all time favorite movie. To not make it out of the first round is a travesty.

Braveheart was excellent; just a few historical errors. The Scots did not paint their faces blue for battle; that was a more ancient people, the Picts, and the Picts also went into battle totally naked.
Also, King Edward I was a decent ruler historically. He also came up with the well-known phrase, “It’s a dog eat dog world”…and the rest of it, “but what doth the lion care”.

But we can look at it as a scoreboard update I reckon.

Surely a couple of Matt’s friends will glance through these comments.(Or maybe not.) But, will someone please tell Matt to watch “The GREEN MILE.”?
