Awesome to have UK Basketball and a great PGA Championship yesterday! I hope Valhalla gets the PGA again sometime, all 3 times have been really good. Have you guys went down the really big water slide yet? I thought the picture looked awesome, but I saw a youtube video of a guy going down it and it seems like it wasnt as awesome as it looks. It goes so fast you really don’t see any sharks.

Impressed by the Caytes. It’s like a big blue Christmas!

  5. Judge Rules NCAA's Pay Ban Violates Antitrust Laws
    10:00 am August 11, 2014 Permalink

Here’s a tip KSR crew, you should at least mention the O’Bannon v. NCAA case today; a California District Judge ruled after a three week bench trial that the NCAA’s pay ban violates antitrust laws. That’s a huge blow to the NCAA.

I just don’t see how it is though. They are compensated and they don’t have to agree to deal. They can go somewhere else.

It was in the night post on Friday, FYI.

    • The Judge
      10:14 am August 11, 2014 Permalink

Here’s an over-simplification of the issue: The U.S. Supreme Court has already ruled the NCAA is subject to antitrust rules just like any business (NCAA v. Board of Regents of the University of Oklahoma). So, imagine if a large company with monopoly power, for example, Wal-Mart, that is like the NCAA. Wal-Mart has control over it’s distributors and suppliers (i.e, the colleges and universities). Wal-Mart (the NCAA) has a rule that says it’s distributors and suppliers cannot pay their vendors (the players) more than $5,000 every three months. The vendors can then sue saying that Wal-Mart and the distributors/suppliers are a “cartel” that are price-fixing (artificially keeping the vendor’s payments down) because of Wal-Mart’s monopoly power.

Be careful riding in the back of those trucks Matt and Drew!! Last time I was in the Bahamas I got a ride by some locals in the bed of their truck and the next thing I knew we were being pulled over by the police. The guys we were with had drugs on them. They locked us up for 2 days and deported us because the locals blamed us for it!! True story watch yo back….

2 things I took from yesterday’s game: 1. When Alex plays like that, we’re dang near unstoppable. 2. Last year when the twins would drive to the basket, they’d finger roll or shoot a floater a lot. Yesterday, they were trying to put the whole Puerto Rican team on a poster!

Ulis won’t have to do much scoring but if he can consistently make a runner or a pull-up jumper from around the free-throw line he could be unstoppable. Everyone will back off him in there because they think he’s going to pass anyway. Happened a couple times in the game yesterday.

Maybe the UK stars are all aligned? BEST of both worlds!

    • AGREED! I hope that, even if we don’t win enough games to go bowling, that we do some things that make some folks sit up and take notice that we’re going to be a lot better in the next couple years. If the QB situation can be settled and Z and company can mash a few people, that will be great!

  47. About what Jared said about the tennis ball machine: look up the video of Chris Carter on that machine on ESPN from a year or 2 ago. He was still amazing with it, better than Keyshawn Johnson (I think he was on the set that day). He said on Mike and Mike that he owned one when he played and he practiced with it constantly and that this is what you need to do to have great hands.
