How about those Eagles?! And they didn’t beat IU via their typical method of scoring– from deep. They just wanted it more. So happy to not only see them get a huge win but also for Indiana to go down!

We’ll beat Providence down. They aren’t terrible, but will struggle to score against us. Their team was good last season mainly because of Bryce Cotton, and he’s long gone now.

I didn’t hear what Vitale said but I do not like being treated like a 10 year old. I’ve been a Kentucky fan for over 50 years and I do not think it is Vitale’s job to tell us how to behave. I would tell him to his face if I ever met him that not all people claiming to be Kentucky fans are actually fans of Kentucky. He comes to Rupp wanting to be treated like a prima donna and then chastises us on his national soap box. It is time for dickie vee to go away.

I’m sorry, but Dick Vitale is hard to like when he’s always ripping on our fans. Matt, you need to tell him that just because a few idiots say stupid things, it doesn’t mean that 99 percent of the fans aren’t good people. He needs to reminded of this and that all he’s doing is stereotyping UK fans, and it’s making many of us dislike him.

    • sammydog

Unfortunately, opportunists with different agendas infiltrate the demonstrators and stir things up. Thugs who want chaos to destroy property, commit violence, and loot businesses arrive in droves to take advantage of the situation. Others just want an excuse to behave badly (why does winning a championship cause people to burn and overturn cars?) Others resort to violence when they believe a peaceful methods have not worked.

      11:38 am November 25, 2014 Permalink

We shouldn’t under estimate the Cards. They are the kind of team that could beat us on their court. MH is an outstanding player who can be unstoppable and take over a game. My guess is we should be able to get him in foul trouble. We know they will be lights out from behind the arch. They always are when they play us. They will play outstanding defense and frustrate our guards with slaps, hacks, and steals that should be fouls but won’t be called on their home court. This will be a tournament kind of game and should test us.

Matt…Here is why UK will do better against UL than you guys are thinking:

UL is NOT head and tails better than us, Notre Dame win be damned:

I will also say when you look at the 5 game losing streak, it was easy to see it coming, easy to see why it happened, and heck even easy to see why the games played out the way they played out. It has everything to do with depth and players…So lets take a look at the 5 year recruiting average(to include 5th year seniors, which there tends to be quite a few linemen that use a redshirt), the margin of victory over UK and the difference in our recruiting rankings:

    UK’s 5 year average: 44.2

School: Margin of Victory – 5 Year Recruiting Class Average – Recruiting Class Difference

    LSU: 38 – 7.6 – (36.6)
    Tennessee: 34 – 13 – (31.2)
    Georgia: 32 – 10.2 – (34)
Miss State: 14 – 35 (though I would argue margin is a true 7 points due to the fluke TD on the onside kick) – (9.2)
    Mizzou: 10 – 35 – (9.2)

So to me it is no coincidence that we faired better against Mizzou and Miss State based on the fact that talent and depthwise they are really just one step above us, while in the absolute blow outs we are about 50 steps under UGA, LSU and UT.

So what does that mean for the UL game, well UL’s recruiting average is 42.2, which is a difference of only 2, so they are UK playing in the ACC. So talent and depthwise they are not even one step above us. So I think no matter what we can compete in this game.

So if Stoops and company can get our players minds back to the right place, and having two weeks rest heading into the game, I would think that UK can go on the road and win. It is a tall order but not as impossible as the last 5 games would indicate. Plus UL will be coming off the second most physical game of their season, so the rest UK gets is even more important knowing that.

Alex should guard Harrell, he has the size/strength, quickness, and athleticism to do so.

    • RealCatsFan
      11:53 am November 25, 2014 Permalink

I think we should rotate several of our best defenders on Harrell, including Alex. I even think putting Hawkins on him might work well for a while – Dom is a great athlete and while he gives up some height, he has the quickness and jumping ability to harass and frustrate Harrell. The thing about Harrell is that he doesn’t always play smart – I have seen him get too hyped up and commit silly fouls. I think if UK can goad him into this, even with the home court advantage, we could have him in foul trouble pretty easily.

I think UofL’s defense will be the toughest the Cats will face all year. It’s going to be very important to take care of the ball and beat their press. Once we get it in the half court i think we will be OK – our size will take over.

    • J-Dub421
      12:01 pm November 25, 2014 Permalink

I could maybe see having Hawk harass Harrell coming up court, but there’s no way he could guard Harrell in the post. He’d be giving up too much size/weight. Hawk would be better used garding Jones or Rozier.
