I hope Ryan keeps it up with the funeral home puns. His ending to the show yesterday was hilarious.

  2. My mom’s home town. *sniff*

  3. Believe it or not folks, I may be related to that family in the industry Matt just talked about. Let’s just say I have VERY close relatives who are Tarters from Liberty in my family.

The one or two might just refer to the Stanford player and Hagans.

      Sounds like it.

  5. I have NEVER been to that apple pie festival…and I LOVE apple pie! I want a piece of that giant apple pie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Slow Thread today. I guess broadcasting from a funeral home can do that. lol

My grandma used to make a lattice top apple pie, and tended to keep it in the refrigerator and serve it cold. I absolutely prefer it that way. Then again, I’m not a pie/ice cream or cake/ice cream guy.

My grandmother made these tasteless cookies that had one chocolate chip per cookie, if you were lucky, we always laughed about that. But she also made amazing strawberry preserves, so that made up for the weird cookies.

Apple pie, I can take it or leave it.

    • The best apple pie isn’t even the bread dough type. You have to do the deep dish type and use the little box of Jiffy Cake mix to do the topping. My mom has made it for years, and my wife does too now. It makes for a cinnamon-ey and sugary top. Hot with a cup of coffee, and ice cream if you prefer. Awesome.

I’ll try to share that recipe tomorrow J-Dub if you’re “Somewhere Out There”. 🙂

My name’s not Vanzant, but I did call Matt a 13 year old girl for eating boneless “wings”.

I tried to just pass on commenting about that, but you went there! Any “chicken wing” that is eaten with a fork is just wrong on so many levels.

Can’t help myself. Real wings can be SO good. It offends me when people refer to chunks of white meat sauce catchers as wings.

Speaking of metrosexuals, yesterday my boss left early to go to his hairdresser to get his hair colored. He is a DUDE, and he is younger than I am. Time for me to demand that he turn in his man-card?

Ha ha, why would he volunteer that info? He could have just said he had an appointment.

    • Well, hopefully it at least isn’t orange like what Grecian Formula usually does to guys hair.

I like the silver parts of my husband’s hair. I gave them to him, after all.

He told our office manager, and she told me. I said that I would have taken that one to the grave with me. 🙂

My wife has been trying to get me to shave my beard for years – it is almost all white now. And I have very little if any grey in my hair. I tell her that the beard is for hiding my 4 chins. 😉

    • You guys are making me laugh.

RCF, in the words of the immortal Lewis Grizzard, “Damn, brother, I don’t believe I’d have told that.”

  9. Matt’s right about Mumme changing college football. For a guy who faded into the background he has an incredible coaching tree with former players and assistants, guys who went to his camps, coaches who played for or coached under former assistants, etc.

However, don’t forget that Lavell Edwards at BYU was Mumme’s inspiration. I remember reading that he went to an Edwards’ camp because Frank Broyles praised what was going on at BYU.

Never could understand why they don’t make you take another drivers test every ten years or so. Maybe they could do different levels of “failing” – if you just make a few mistakes, make the renewal contingent on taking a refresher driver’s ed course. If you fail it miserably, you surrender your license immediately and they give you a tattoo that says “idiot” on it. 🙂

I haven’t parallel parked since my test. I would hate to have to relearn maneuvers I intentionally avoid. Otherwise I agree with you.

I used to tow a boat – a lot. I got very used to backing up with a trailer behind me – got pretty good with it – I could “thread the needle”. So for me, parallel parking is pretty easy. But I do a lot of driving.

My biggest pet peeve is people who tailgate. Especially when the driver in front of them is already going 12 MPH over the speed limit, and there is really no where to go to let the dumbass tailgater pass. To me, aggressively tailgating someone shows that you have absolutely no respect for their safety. I would venture that 85% of road rage incidents started with someone tailgating.

I can’t say I would be totally against periodic driver retesting. If the ramifications of failing are that serious, just make sure you don’t screw it up. That’s part of being a responsible adult.
