Lordy – based on what evidence? South Carolina is a team that struggled in it’s first game, has no QB and just lost their starting DB who’s playing a team in UK who played well enough to look like a decent team and has an offense that’s going to sling the ball all over the field against a weak secondary…. UK_JB may be a homer, but you sir are a hater with a distorted reality. now take your ass back to card chronicle and read more articles about how Louisville ALMOST beat a real football team.

I used to work at the old K-Lair back in then day. I remember those days well.

“Uh…I’ll have a soda with very little ice.”

“I’m sorry, but all our ice is the same size.”

    Hey Y’ALL!!

Thanks for posting that awesome picture of the new K Lair. I work at Longwood Antique Woods and we provided the wood and built those walls. The wood on the walls came from the Winn Avenue Tobacco Warehouse. While you are there see if anyone can locate the hidden piece of the Memorial Coliseum floor that we snuck in there!

    Go Cats!

Matt is quick to bash what UK use to look like even though he didn’t go to school there.

Yes it is a lot better. But he acts like from 1995-2000 it was the pits. That is not true.

And the library has been open since 1998 (so 17 years).

    • CATandMONKEY
      10:17 am September 11, 2015 Permalink

I didn’t hear him bashing. Just that what used to be a good campus is now an incredible campus. The library remains one of my favorite buldings on any campus east of the Mississippi.

Ryan uses a big word like ‘antiquated’, and Matt still pooh-poohs it

    • CATandMONKEY
      10:19 am September 11, 2015 Permalink

Did Ryan use the word properly in a sentence though? I missed it but it is incredibly possible that Ryan utilized “antiquated” when he meant antique, new or even to describe the color orange.

Matt – my daughter is a freshman at UK and was 4 years old on 9/11/01.

    10:14 am September 11, 2015 Permalink

Matt you are 100 % correct. I was staying in Lex back in June while my nephew from New England was down for a Calipari Bball camp. Hadn’t been on campus for 12 years. My sister and I were driving in on Nicholasville road from the south to drop off at the Seaton center. Wow. Just the additions toward the south end of campus blew me away. Traffic was the usual Lexington nightmare though. Little city with the big city traffic problems. Some things never change.

I attended UK from 2004-2008 and haven’t been on campus since about 2011. Been to Lexington several times since then, but haven’t had time to strolla round campus and look at all the changes. I feel like much of it would be a bit heartbreaking, although I’m glad the University I love so much is thriving.

K-Lair may have a nice, pretty facade, but I sure loved the old dump next to Haggin. #ChickenTendersForDays #SeasonedSalt #SomeoneNeedsToMop #ThatFishTankIsDisgusting

Does anyone know exactly when Champions Classic tickets go on sale?

    • Realme
      10:48 am September 11, 2015 Permalink

Last time it was in Chicago, we wanted to go, but the tickets went on sale so late we didn’t have time to arrange a trip once we were able to see ticket prices. So in other words, not until fairly close to the event, if they handle it like they did in the past.

Memphis fans are a joke. They seem to think they are relevant in some way. The university president is an absolute ass for inseting a dark cloud into Calipari’s hall of fame weekend by his handling of the situation.

Matt – would UK celebrate Pitino in the same way Memphis was going to with Cal? I doubt it and I don’t see a big difference. Not sure why you’d expect Memphis to celebrate Cal at this point. Maybe down the road, after he’s retired. Maybe we should do the same for Pitino. Down the road.

    • BtownUKFan
      10:53 am September 11, 2015 Permalink

Two things Chuck. 1) Pitino made a mistake leaving Kentucky for the Celtics and was a hug failure and 2) He is coaching our arch-rival and he’s made disparaging comments about our coach, our fans and our program.
Maybe it is too soon for Memphis but it is not the same as Kentucky and Pitino. Probably after he retires Kentucky will do something to honor him but not while he is coaching at loserville.

Did Matt really let it go?

I ‘was’ as much a Pitino fan as anyone and he left us with many memories. I saw him the day before he decided in Atlanta and you knew he was leaving.

I’m not sure I would want him to come back to Lexington for any celebration, but historically, he has made as much an impact on college basketball in Kentucky as anyone ever has.

I couldn’t be happier these days having Cal on our side, and each year brings new excitement that probably no other coach could do in Lexington. Cal is the man, and the day he’s not the coach will be a worse feeling than when Pitino left for Boston.

Pitino has also openly admitted it was a big mistake to leave “Camelot” for the Celtics.

You can add former Temple coach John Chaney as a coach that is not on Cal’s Christmas card list.

      Well, he may be..
Just read this excerpt and thought I’d pass it along:
Calipari, who now coaches at Kentucky, and Chaney have become good friends. In 1994, after the confrontation, the two got together for a fundraising event for diabetes, Flint said. Calipari was asked to roast Chaney at it.
