Final found time to sit down and watch some coverage of the gold medal events i’ve missed this week/weekend.

We are just absolutely dominant in swimming. no other way to put it.

That glower on Michael Phelps’ face was priceless. The South American dude who was flexing and prancing in front of him was a total douche. Glad Phelps beat him, even if he had to settle for silver in that heat.

BTW, did anyone else notice the circular bruises on Phelps’ back and wonder what they were from? Apparently they are from the neo-medical suction cup treatments that he was getting. Apparently there is some questionable results from this treatment that borders on quackery:

He didn’t settle for silver, it was a qualifying race. Tonight is the actual medal race. I think Phelps and crazy guy were both holding a little back in the race, and my guess is that the crazy guy finished exactly where he wanted so that he can get the lane beside Phelps tonight in the medal race.

the guy was watching Phelps even in the race, it seemed like he wanted to finish right after him.

The entire Enes situation is very sad. The entire nation of Turkey seems to be brainwashed.

My first thought was inline with other opinions I’ve heard. His dad may be completely out of line, but he may also be pressured into what he’s saying. He and his family still live there, so if he has to support the local government or risk retaliation. I even think he is secretly working with Enes to support the Gulen. It was his father’s “demand” to change his name, well he is changing his name to Gulen. Either that backfired in his dad’s face, or his dad is pretty smart in suggesting his son use his celebrity status to spread awareness.

      I’m guessing the latter

Support for Enes! Tough family situation…Nightmare of a political situation in Turkey.
Erdogan…wow. Despite our abysmal choices in the upcoming election, glad Erdogan is not an option.

Jaybrat; excellent analysis. I had not considered that angle until your comment. I greatly hope you are correct.

ukjaybrat – I hope you’re right. That would be the ideal scenario. I love the fact Enes is standing up for his beliefs, I just hope his views do not put his family in harm’s way with them still being there.

Ryan would narc-out his family for a roach clip found in a backpack…totally based on his historical positions.

Matt, the situation in Turkey is not POLITICAL, it’s RELIGIOUS! Endogan is attempting (and succeeding) in turning a once secular Turkey into an Islamist country. The failed coup was an attempt by the military to stop him and Enes supported that… Please do the people of Kentucky a favor and don’t run for political office of any kind until you educate yourself on what’s really happening in the world.

Nick Saban isn’t the annoying figure for Alabama. Is there anyone more annoying than Kiffin across the board? Also doesn’t help that Ansley is pulling all the interest from our in-state kids. Happy for the kids though. Not sure they’d have the exposure without that connection.
