Well, that wasn’t as fun as I was hoping, but at least they won.

Yep, lackluster win, but I will take that over a disappointing and potentially devastating loss in first game of the season. Better than last year.

I am a big car nut, and I passed on taking a trip to Indy to watch the US Nationals with my neighbors – partly because I woke up at 3 AM and tossed and turned all night – couldn’t get back to sleep. When we were sucking it up and Southern Miss had the momentum, I commented that I was going to be very pizzed if I stayed home from the racetrack to watch our team suck it up.

It was a win. We had to work for it, and I’m okay with that. Beggars can’t be choosers.

    3. ClutchCargo

All UK football wins are beautiful in my eyes. Hopefully, we are getting to the point that we will go ahead and beat the hell out of bad teams, so as to get some reps for Barker and others.

If the coach could do a couple of things for me,
    1. 3rd and inches…don’t snap the ball to a back 6 yards behind the line, sheesh
    2. 3rd and five…don’t throw a 40 yard pass; c’mon.

Yeah, I have NEVER understood why teams sometimes do such a deep snap or handoff in such a short yardage situation.

I think all that Wildcat predictability was selling the players short. Like the coaches were afraid to depend on Johnson and Co to make plays.

    1. RealCatsFan

I just felt like we did not look sharp on offense at all. Not only predictable, but also seemed like we played with a lack of explosiveness and snap. I watched Purdue nearly beat Louisville after that, and their offensive execution was like night and day compared to ours. And that is a first-year coaching staff.

Hope we get it going for the next game.

    2. Realme

      I think they will.

I disagree with Freddie that there is no such thing as an ugly road win (however, he played the game so I defer to him to an extent). However, I’ll take it. This is a team that beat us last year, and although they’re not Power 5, they’re not a glorified D2 team either. On to EKU.

    GO CATS!!!

    1. runningunnin.454

Yep, UNLV lost to Howard and Baylor lost to Jerry Falwell’s Liberty U.
      How the mighty have fallen.

    2. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

However I apparently like the word however. 😛

    3. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

And the UNLV loss was the biggest upset ever according to LV!!!

What stops the official on the right side, that is actually in position to see the gap, from telling the guy that made the call to stand over the ball and look again?

    1. runningunnin.454

Didn’t know John Higgins was a two sport official!

… And meanwhile, the mobile version of the KSR site continues to suck hind tit. I tried several times to post comments from my phone, and it is basically impossible. A pop up ad comes in right over top of the “Post Comment” button, and there is no way to close the ad. Plus you still have to scroll down past a bunch of garbage to even SEE the comments section. I’m sorry, but aside from this show thread through the week and occasionally scanning for scores and a little UK sports news, I find myself going to the KSR site less and less – especially on my phone. Mobile web sites are the future of the internet, and KSR is going backwards. I am going to predict that this is going to be the beginning of the end of KSR as we know it – and how it started – as a website. Kind of sad. I may have to start looking for an alternative to find UK sports news on my phone.

Twitter. Follow a select few media and you’ll never miss any news.

I think they ought to offer the option of an ad free membership at a (hopefully) nominal cost that you or someone suggested here recently. I have Adguard on my iPad, and it works great with Safari, but it doesn’t block ads on Chrome (Chrome for iOS isn’t set up for ad blockers) or the KSR app. I’m commenting less though because Safari doesn’t populate your screen name automatically like Chrome. Again, it’s what I get for having such a long screen name!

I suggest our players stay off twitter.

Sorry for the slow start guys. I blame myself. My plan to get the wife a nap in before the game backfired and she didn’t wake up til after the first quarter. As soon as she walked into the room, we scored our first touchdown.

    1. runningunnin.454

Benny is mad at your wife.

    2. ukjaybrat

0-2 in the wildcat while she was.sleeping. but to be fair, she got him that first td from the wildcat as soon as she walked in lol

Hey Matt, You keep on saying S. Johnson is 8 – 3 as a starter. He started the 3rd game last year 7 – 3, he lost the Bowl game. With this year he is 8 – 4 as a starter, FACTS OPTIONAL, right!

    1. J-Dub421

Johnson’s record is superior to Barker’s, and that is all I really need to know.

    2. RealCatsFan

Barker seems to be the polar opposite of a gamer – he looks great in practice, but it never seems to translate onto the field. I don’t have anything against the kid, but he seems to make a lot of mistakes and questionable decisions. Maybe that has changed with his time off, but until Johnson proves that he cannot lead this team, he is our QB.

    Regular season games.

I put in my donation to the Hoops for Houston telethon. However, on the heels of that we now have Irma, which looks to be an absolute monster of a storm. This one looks scary folks – already a strong category 5 with sustained 175 MPH winds and gusts to 200. And it is still gaining strength. Not only does it threaten many small, impoverished island nations in the Caribbean, its projected path could send it straight up the middle of the state of Florida. If this happens, the damage and loss of life will dwarf Harvey. Let’s pray that it takes a sudden turn out to sea.

    1. runningunnin.454

Yeah, they are contemplating adding a new category 6, there’s never been one before.

    2. Stuck on Blue

Yes, and I live on the east coast of Florida, just north of West Palm Beach, right in the path. We are about 10 miles inland and we have weathered many storms, but this one looks bad. We are as prepared as we can be, hope it turns into a fish storm.

While on active duty in the Marine Corps back in the early 80s, I lived on Emerald Island for 3 years. We had to move out 3 different times due to Hurricanes. The aftermath was no joke! 2 of those move outs, I had to help civilians and my spouse had to move out with a young child by herself. My prayers go out to the people involved in these disasters!

Did Shannon play any Steely Dan last week?

So are “Black Friday” and “FM” – both songs that get very little airplay, but arguably SD’s best.

I missed part of the show listening on Iheart and walking my dogs. Did Matt say anything about Reddish committing to the Duke?
