Kroger’s KSR Game of the Week: Lexington Catholic hosts 5A champ Covington Catholic

We are excited to have our friends at Kroger on board as we bring you high school football coverage this fall. Each week Kroger will present the KSR High School Game of the Week. We will travel to the featured game each week to bring you the best sights, sounds and incredible moments. Together we’re happy supporters of “KY Proud Products” and the “Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund.”

KSR will travel down Clays Mill Road to Lexington Catholic for their regular season finale game with Covington Catholic.  Cov. Cath has made three straight 5A title games, winning two. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Last Year’s Game

Covington Catholic gave up 455 yards passing to Beau Allen, but still managed to defeat the Knights 39-38 in the 3rd game of the regular season.  The game was surprisingly close, seeing how Covington Catholic went on win the 5A state title game with one of the most dominant Colonel teams in school history, while Lexington Catholic was blown out by 4A runner-up Boyle County twice, including in the playoffs.  Maybe Boyle County is just a bad matchup for the Knights?

Not walking through that door

Last year’s game featured current UK QB Beau Allen and current Notre Dame TE (and KY Mr. Football) Michael Mayer.  As Rick Pitino would say it, those guys are not walking through that door Friday night.

On the road again

Road teams not named Belfry are 6-0 in the KSR Game of the Week.  That could give an edge to the Colonels.
