The Hazard Bulldogs and Paintsville Tigers play tonight at 8 p.m. in the All A Classic Quarterfinals at McBrayer Arena in Richmond. From viral announcer videos to last second shot heroics, both teams have been getting a lot of buzz lately and rightfully so. They are both representing the 606!
Trailing by 4 points entering the fourth quarter yesterday, the Bulldogs stormed back to defeat Louisville Collegiate 42-39 on a last second 3-pointer by Jarrett Napier. It was Napier’s only bucket of the game.

Hazard’s key players Wade Pelphrey and Logan Hall combined for 32 of the team’s 42 points. Hazard is no stranger to last second thrilling victories. On January 14 they snapped a 13-game losing streak to rival Perry County Central on Pelphrey’s game winning bucket. Hazard likes to control the tempo and play at a methodical pace.
Former Kentucky player and current Paintsville head coach Landon Slone has the Tigers in the All “A” Classic for the first time since 2008, when he was a star player. From December 20 to January 4, the Tigers lost 7 of 8 games. They have since turned it around and have now won 7 straight. Colby Fugate scored 26 points in yesterday’s 67-60 win over Harlan. He was coming off an incredible 34-point game in the 15th region finals over Shelby Valley. Senior Nick Keeton and junior Braxton Tharp are the other key players for Paintsville. Tharp is a lock down defender and will likely be matched up with Pelphrey.
