KHSAA Sweet 16 takes measures to limit crowd size at Rupp Arena

The Kentucky state girls’ basketball tournament will be played today at Rupp Arena but the Sweet 16 will not look the same.
KHSAA Commissioner Julian Tackett announced at a press conference Thursday morning that both the girls and boys Sweet 16 will only allow players listed on each school’s postseason roster and four family members to attend the games at Rupp Arena.

School bands and cheerleaders will also be absent for the rest of the Sweet 16. The measures to restrict crowds at Rupp Arena will begin Friday, March 13.
“It is devastating to the local community,” Tackett said. “There is no winning side to this, other than to try to keep Kentuckians healthy.”
