With the summer basketball circuit behind us, the team at 247Sports updated its rankings for the Class of 2019.

There was a lot of movement in the new update (more so than usual), but the top three spots remained the same with James Wiseman holding down No. 1 overall, Cole Anthony staying put at No. 2 and Vernon Carey at No. 3.

“It wasn’t an easy call,” writes Evan Daniels, the site’s national recruiting director. “Wiseman was pushed for the top spot, primarily by Anthony, a dynamic scorer and the son of former NBA player Greg Anthony.”

Jaden McDaniels and Precious Achiuwa flipped places to round out the top-five.

Behind them, Kentucky commit Kahlil Whitney earned a No. 6 ranking after one of the biggest climbs on the list. Whitney jumped up eight places from a No. 14 ranking prior to his breakout in July.

Fellow commit Tyrese Maxey also moved up in the rankings, going from No. 13 to No. 10.

The third member of UK’s class, Dontaie Allen, dropped a spot to No. 84.

UK Commits/Notable Targets

6. Kahlil Whitney
13. Tyrese Maxey
84. Dontaie Allen

1. James Wiseman
3. Vernon Carey
8. Matthew Hurt
9. Nico Mannion
11. Scottie Lewis
19. Oscar Tshiebwe

And if we’re being petty, I will point out D.J. Jeffries dropped 26 spots to No. 68.

Go Cats.

If I understand TJ’s post from yesterday correctly, UK is still recruiting Anthony, correct? You don’t have him listed as a ‘notable target’.

You stated Tyrese jumped from 13 to 10, yet still listed him at 13 in the article in the “UK Commits / Notable Targets” column. Shouldn’t you have had him at 10?

Furthermore, somewhat surprised, highly surprised actually, that Allen did not see a notable increase in the rankings.

And if I’m not mistaken you list Nico as a target but he cut UK from list.
