Kevin Knox’s dad says he will announce his decision sometime between Thursday and Sunday

usa_today_9973065.0

When will the Kevin Knox saga end? According to his dad, sometime between Thursday and Sunday of this week. Knox Sr. told Adam Zagoria that his son plans to announce this weekend, but the exact time will depend on when he can get on ESPN. Recruiting announcements usually take place on ESPNU’s “Recruiting Nation,” but an ESPN spokesman told Zagoria that no new episodes of the show are planned yet.

That being said, I’m sure “SportsCenter” will welcome Knox on to share his big news. Knox is down to Kentucky, Duke, Florida State, Missouri, and North Carolina. Duke holds a healthy lead in his 247 Sports Crystal Ball, with seven of the last eight picks in recent weeks.

So, sometime between Thursday and Sunday, which almost certainly means it will happen while everyone’s watching the Oaks or the Derby, right?

With all the recruiting success Cal has brought to Lexington, he actually hasn’t done well late in the process. Jamal Murray is the last and possibly only guy I can remember the CATS adding late in the cycle. I think this is attributed to Cal doing his work early and already having a stacked roster. This is how Kansas has had much of their success, but that’s for another discussion. This year is a bit different with only 10 scholarships being used, and still questions around Hami and Vando. If there was anytime to change that, this class would be the one to buck the trend.

Historically if Cal is recruiting in the summer, it’s because he’s whiffed on another recruit he actually wanted. That’s less true this year because of the elite nature of the major remaining guys

The sooner Knox decides, the sooner Cal can go all in (or not) on Cam Johnson who hopefully isn’t offended by the whole process

Go to Duke, daddy’s boy. You’ll fit in fine with Bolden and his momma… UK isn’t for everyone.
