Kentucky’s Tim Duckworth wins NCAA Men’s Decathlon

@KentuckyTrack

Step aside for the night, Sydney McLaughlin. Kentucky’s Tim Duckworth won the men’s decathlon at the NCAA Championships tonight with 8,336 points, the fifth best score in meet history. He’s just the second man in NCAA history to win the indoor heptathlon and outdoor decathlon in the same year.

The decathlon is the ultimate test of strength and stamina. Over two days, athletes must complete the 100-meter sprint, 110-meter hurdles, 400 meters, 1,500 meters, long jump, high jump, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw and pole vault.

Some footage of his performances:

Congrats, Tim.

    Great performance! Our track and field is forcing us to notice. Awesome.

    I’ve never had any interest in out track and field team until this year. They have represented BBN in spectacular fashion so far. Sydney never looks like she’s running all that fast but man she’s smooth, I look for her to set a record on Saturday. Also Gruber won the women’s pole vault.

      This was a really impressive comeback from a fractured ankle by Gruver. Struggled on her first vaults until the very end, then topped the winner on the first try! She made it look so hard to do up until that point. (Sandbaggin all the way…) haha

    And so, Duckworth wins the title of NCAA’s greatest athlete.
    Olivia Gruver repeats as pole vault champion.
    And, Sydney is just amazing.
    Really enjoyed the coverage tonight.

    Straight up. There’s the best athlete at UK, and perhaps the country (among collegiates).

    Also, WTH did KSR add to the already ridiculous lineup of extra ads and nonsense scripts to make the site pause about 15 seconds before even loading content. It’s ridiculous. Also, apparently, I should vacation in Jerusalem?!

    • Use an ad blocker dude. Adblock Plus on PC. Use the browser called Adblock if you’re on iOS (Android also I think). They are from the same company and work like a charm.

      It’s part of the “………news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible”.

      The “ridiculous manner” part.
