Kentucky will jump to the top-ranked class with Juzang commitment

John Calipari may spend his weekend celebrating the No. 1 recruiting class in America. Because if Johnny Juzang picks Kentucky when he makes his announcement on Friday, Kentucky will jump both Duke and Arizona for the top spot in the 247 Composite Team Rankings.

According to 247’s fancy class calculator, Juzang will raise UK’s projected score from 68.59 with four commits to 69.87 with five. It would give the Cats the edge over Duke, which is currently ranked second, and Arizona, currently the top class:

1. Arizona, 69.40
2. Duke, 69.32
3. Kentucky, 68.59

Kentucky with Juzang, 69.87

If those numbers hold, it will be Calipari’s first top-ranked class (according to 247) since the Skal Labissiere-led group in 2015.

You can also get real crazy and throw in Jaden McDaniels, a very likely possibility at this point, and the score jumps to 70.21, just barely shy of where last year’s UK and Duke classes scored (70.29 and 71.06).

(One quick party-pooping note: If Memphis adds RJ Hampton and Boogie Ellis, Penny Hardaway will earn the top spot for the first time in his program’s history with a 70.30.)

How the heck does Arizona have a recruiting class at all, given the hammer that’s about to fall on them?

So do people on wiretapped phones. lol I just find it hard to believe they’re still at it after all that has gone down. And even those not getting paid should be able to see that Arizona basketball is going to be a smoking crater pretty soon.

I’m with clutchcargo, zona’s recruiting success is baffling given the ncaa and fbi investigation. Just wow! I hope the ncaa quickly slams them, UofL, KU, and LSU with a 5 year tourney ban!

So Memphis will probably end up number one, making for the biggest disappointment ever next season

Agree with both comments above. Arizona, LSU, Kansas and Louisville should all be on extensive probation and restrictions, and scholarship reductions to where most of the team is walk ons. I also believe we get McDaniels, Juzang and either RJ or Blackshear. This could be our best team ever on paper, especially if EJ and Nick come back. This team could be 2015 good

This is a lot like a farmer adding up all of his eggs, and assuming that # accurately represents how many chickens he will have.

Means nothing, what class ranking did TTU and UVA have last year? They were in title game, that is when being on top matters. And to say last time we had the top class was in 2015 led by Skal, that should prove right there these rankings mean NOTHING. Nick was top rated C when he came out, all these ranking are just opinions and sometimes by people who have never seen them play.

Christ on a crutch dude, it’s just a numbers article. Nowhere does it say anything about what the rankings actually mean. Go finish your pissed in cheerios.

Would you rather have a lower ranked class? Perhaps just enjoy the ride rather than finding a negative slant to every single article posted.
